Hate to do this, but another stroller question...

So here is my problem...I've got dd4 and dd8mos and a graco metrolite stroller. Well apparently dd4 still wants to ride in a stroller when we go to the mall or zoo or WDW, but I don't want to get a double stroller at this point because I'm thinking she will only want to/be able to ride in it for maybe another year or so.

What I'm thinking about doing is getting two Maclaren Quest Mod's that are on clearance at allbeebaby.com and then getting the clips to attatch them together when it just me out with them, so it works like a double stroller. Then when we're out as a family I can push one and dh the other. Then in a couple of years when dd4 is really to big to ride in a stroller I can sell hers and still have the one for dd8mos.

So I guess what I'm asking is 1) Does this sound like a good idea. and 2) Has anyone used the clips to attatch two strollers and how does it work. I guess I'm a little worried about it being too wide also.

Thanks

That was my original plan for our upcoming trip to WDW for DS 2 1/2 & DD 5 mo - clip together our Graco MetroLite and Chico strollers. But I couldn't get the clip to connect to the MetroLite. I think they're designed for umbrella strollers and the tubes are too big on the Graco. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I got frustrated and gave up.

From looking at the clips, it looks like they will only fit around the tubing on a umbrella type stroller. I would think it would be awkward trying to clip two different types of strollers together anyway, that's why I was thinking of buy two identical strollers.

Sorry it didn't work for you.

The clips work best on two identical strollers. We used them on our $10 cheapie umbrellas for non-Disney trips. While DH was hauling luggage, I pushed the strollers clipped together. After we handed over the suitcases, we unclipped and each took one.

I wouldn't want to push clipped strollers any farther than I absolutely had to. It's hard to steer since you've got 4 separate handles and the clipped strollers are wider than a standard double, but it's do-able for a short time.

Thanks for the input...I'm really thinking the only time I"ll need the clips is when I'm at the mall with both dd's. Hopefully then the width won't be an issue, and I'm really hoping that with getting a couple of Maclarens that pushing them both at the same time won't be too hard.

I just hate to get a double stroller since I won't need it very often or for too much longer. :)

I think for those ages, I'd get a stroller with a place in the back for the 4 yo to stand or sit. That way, it encourages her to walk as much as possible, but when she is really exhausted, she has a place to rest.

I personally found clipped strollers to be very difficult to push, much harder than a double stroller (and they are wider than a double too).

Of course, I don't know how the cost would compare. Maybe you could find a good deal on a used one?

Have you thought about just doing rental? (Silly question, I'm sure you have.) But, I was just thinking that at least this way, if the 4 yr old decided after day 1 that she didn't want the stroller, you had the option of not having one. And, if you definitely want your own stroller for the 8mo old, are there 2 adults? Could you just bring the one and then rent for the older child on an as needed basis? Also, check e-bay for cheap used strollers, then just get rid of it at the end of the trip. If you are really lucky, maybe you could even find a seller who would be willing to hold onto it for a little while and then ship it direct to the hotel. (I'd bring something to sanitize it w/, but I'm a little bit of a clean freak when it comes to kids.):confused3

OT - If anyone has a good links to stroller threads (which one to bring to WDW, I could sure use one. I posted a new thread earlier, but got no response. I think everyone is tired of answering the ?, but I had no luck digging thru and finding an appropriate thread.)
