hATE TO ASK, ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE KIDS CLUBS

Hi All! Have a terrible question to pose. I am alittle fearful aobut leaving my 9 going on 30 DS at one of the kids clubs. My DH aka Grumpy would love some one on oone time with me one night druing our stay. I dread asking but is anyone aware of any unfavorable incidents that they experienced or are aware of.

I've never heard any negative reviews. Personally, I have used Simba's Cubhouse at AKL twice and was very happy both times.
The club was clean, had plenty for the kids to do, and the staff was attentive and professional. They give you a beeper in case of emergency.

I haven't had a bad experience but I will relate our good experience if that will help!

My dd's are 9 and 11 and have spent time a WDW kids club once every trip for the past 4-5 years and love them. In fact they often ask "if they can have a night out!". By far their favorite is the Neverland Club followed by Simbas, they have done the one at the Dolphin twice and like it but given the choice its Neverland hands down. For my kids they like the time to chill and play in between the themepark type fun. As much as they love the parks, they still like to play at the pool, playgrounds and love the kids clubs for movies and video games as well as meeting and playing with other kids.

DH and I try and either choose the kids club closest to where we are staying or if not that then the one closest to where we are going to be. Of course we try and make it one of the kids fav's so everyone is happy.

Thak you both I really appreciate and value you sharing your experience there. WIll help me not be so worried! Hate leaving him anywhere anytime , but I know my husband would really love the time! It would be my way of thanking him for putting up with my vacation planning!

He wants to go dancing, haven't done that since our wedding I think! Thats been over 10 years he assures me there is an 80s place I would know the songs at!

Are you afraid that something will *happen* to your child, or that your child will be bored? The Dolphin Club is FREE with a meal at Shulas or Blue Zoo and they end up in the arcade around 8:30 with a fistfull of free game tokens. I know the other kids clubs have full sized video games in the clubs themselves.

We've never used Kid's Club but rather a sitter that comes to the condo/room to sit. Never had an issue.

You nailed it right on the head that something could happen, I am uncertain how many supervise and soo many questions reagrding the security issue.

I know he would love the interaction with the other children and that is why I am considering that direction as aposed to a sitter in the room.

Personally, I think he'll be fine. Then again, I dropped my kid off at 4 years old! It sounds like you are more "protective" and nervous than I am ... different strokes for different folks. As for security, they only allow the people who signed a child in sign a child out. Your child cannot leave on his own and he can't leave with someone else. They also give you a pager so they can beep you and they will note where you are going so they can be in contact if they need to.

Are you going to be at WDW long? You can always drop by the club in question and take a look around early in your vacation. You can also call the club and get the adult to child ratio if that concerns you. Unlike toddlers, school age kids need fewer adults.

The only problem I ever had with one of the kids clubs is dragging my DD out of the place when it came time to pick her up, LOL. In full disclosure, my DD *did* have a problem being lonely the first time she stayed in one. They called us when we were at Victoria and Alberts and I talked to her on the phone. She turned out to be OK and that was the first time I had to drag her out of the club.

my DS has visited neverland club 2x and sandlecastle club. He was at one of them the day after he turned 4. He loves the neverland club at the poly. We went down w/our nephew and my parents for a quick christmas trip..and he asked me if he could go play in peter pans pirate ship and play the video games.

That is probably his favorite experience of our last 2 trips!!!

I agree with Robin, drop in to the club you are thinking about using pior to your evenin gout. We did this at the club dolphin when they still had the afternoon program. Me and my dd's dropped in for a while and I stayed with them while they played and I got a feel for the place.

I am not sure but I think you could stop by early evening, meet the CM's and see how the program is run. Maybe even leave your child for an hour (for a fee of course!) if the numbers allow and have a drink or go for a walk with your dh to see how you and your child like it.

If all goes well then your off for some dancing with DH and your child has a kids night out - best of both worlds.
