That means it is way to close to me!

It's been a rough night in Central Florida and it's not over yet. The worst of the weather has moved to the east. There is damage in the area. Fortunately, Disney did not take a hit. A couple of homes were destroyed in Groveland. Tornado sirens are currently sounding near Kennedy Space Center.

Very odd weather for this time of year...even for Florida!

Slowed down now in the Winter Park area but still raining, lots of lightning.

Wow, tornados down there, we have had snow and ice twice in the past month here in GA, it's very spooky! Glad you're okay though, Peggy!

I am near Disney. The really bad weather did not last too long here which I am thankful for. Not sure if it will spike up again though....

Earlier, they said there would be a second wave later tonight. Now, they are saying they don't think it will be as severe as this first one. I'm glad it moved through quickly.

My thoughts go out to those with damage and to the family of the person in Ocala who died this evening in a storm related accident. Very sad.

Lots of rain up here in Northeast Florida. One house was struck by lightening, tornadic activity (according to the news) in the area earlier today. You are right Peg it is odd to see these kind of storms this time of year.

Still pouring with rain here and I can hear thunder, but not as bad as it was earlier. The wind seemed so strong, it was howling around the house! But at least it seems to be on it's way out.

Heavy rains started here in the Ft Myers area just a little while ago. Coming down pretty good right now with wind, thunder and some lightening. Very strange winter weather!

Can you point me to where you heard about the area near Kennedy? DH's elderly Aunt and Uncle live there.

They showed a live weather cam of the area. You could hear the sirens. The last I heard, they had spotted a funnel near Cocoa Beach. Most of the worst weather was moving toward Melbourne and Palm Bay.

Yikes! Thanks! I don't have their number so I need to get DH to call them to check on them.

Glad you are safe Peggy. Weather like that is scary.

Looks like it is not totally over. Another round of storms is firing in the Gulf and will move through over night. The good news is that they should not be as severe.

My family and I are here now, and we decided to not venture out tonight because of the storm. It was nasty out there. I sure hope the storms aren't bad tonight so we can get an early start tomorrow.

"Holy palm fronds Batman, were did that storm come from"???

We got hammered in Citrus county with 70mph winds!!!!:scared1:

Its over now for us.The rest of ya south of me,stay safe.

What do you mean strange weather for FL? Florida is more likely to have tornadoes from Feb-April and Jul-Sep with the Feb-Apr being the most serious time. It is almost February after all. I've always heard that winter is prime time for tornadic storms in FL.

We had tornadoes a few weeks ago and believe me that was abnormal for December 31st here. 3 people were killed. We had snow on the ground prior to that.:confused3

Glad you are safe.

But it isn't FEb yet. And those tornadoes comes from warm weather fronts moving in during the spring. It is unusual for this time of year. They are a spring and fall type of thing, with the obligatory tornadoes after hurricane.

most of florida's tornadoes are water spouts....I've lived here all my life and would definitely call this strange weather-we don't just up and get tornadoes.
