Hat to wear

Looking for a hat to wear to the parks this summer that is very lightweight, can be folded or rolled or crushed and looks good....is that possible? Any suggestions?

I have a visor that I love. It's got a Velcro fastener that allows me to loop it around a purse or backpack strap, which is very handy when I'm not wearing it. It has a large beim and is made of a fabric that looks like straw. It's not as hot as a hat, but still shields my face.

I too wear a visor, very light weight, can come off and be attached to my bag strap when not needed. For me a full hat might be to hot, but the visor keeps the sun off my face.

Mine is urban camo color, easily folds and keeps my head and face shaded. I shave my head so visors are a no go, my head would be TOAST!!!

I had skin cancer on my face years ago and always wear a hat with full brim to shade my head and neck. I bring several (different colors to coordinate with my outfit!!) but my favorite is one I bought in AK a couple of years ago. Don't get the safari hat (with one side that snaps up and very stiff) because it doesn't pack well. That style was the first I ever bought, and got lots of compliments on it, but never bring it anymore. The new one is a cowboy style hat that has a ventilated top so it is much cooler and is packable. If it gets crushed it just pops back out. I have not worn it in a summer downpour yet (I throw it into a plastic bag), but think it would also weather that well. Believe I spent about $40 on it and consider it money well spent. I have a second hat of similar style that I purchased elsewhere for a little less money.

One I would not recommend is a hat made of recycled paper. You might see these in gardening stores. They are very packable but do not hold up well if they get wet......

....I was at Target last night and they have the wide brim hats made of recycled paper in the dollar spot area (hats are $2.50 each) which is a great price if you just want to try out a hat and not spend a huge amount of money.....
