has your walmart scrap section gone from A TON to a small amount?

Was at the local Wal-mart last week, and their scrapping aisle was nearly empty. Is this a sign of things to come? Is the internet or stores like ACM. J's or M taking that much business away?

We just got a "new" Walmart about 5 minutes from my house, and they actually have a pretty good sized (for Walmart) scrapping section. They have the Cuttlebug and the Cricut (not the Expression), as well as all of the new Cricut Classmates cartridges. They also have a bunch of Disney stuff. The other Walmart, though (10 minutes away), has hardly anything now.

I wonder what's up?

The scrapbook section at ours was recently revamped. It was never a huge area and it still isn't, but it is more organized now and seems to have more product displayed. It amounts to one side of one small aisle, and a small section on a wall that has a lot of Disney stuff. They also sell the Cricut and have a whole end cap dedicated to it.

I was in a different one the other day and they had almost nothing. No Cricut, hardly any paper, maybe a few stickers.

Same here, the larger newer Walmart has slim pickins. The older one just got revamped. It has one two-sided aisle full of new things. Like the Disney, newer glues, and more page kits. It looks nicer. The Cricut display is small, only six carts, but they have BOTH Disney ones for $69.

Hi. Just got back from a brand new Walmart in Port Huron. I found a cute Pink Disney Castle with Tinkerbell and glitter (all 3D) sticker for $2.?? and my best buy was a pad of 50 , 12 by 12 bright coloured card stock dor $7.97.

My Walmart has downsized considerably in the scrapbook aisle . One Cricut machine on clearance, cartridges on clearance, hardly any paper and stickers. I asked a clerk and she said the Cricut was being phased out at that store.

AWM--I noticed that our Walmart had both of the Disney carts for $69.99, too!

The bizarre thing is that the older Walmart is clearancing all Cricut stuff. The new Walmart seems to have just set it up. Go figure.

OT--TN Dreamer, where are you from in East Tennessee? DH & I are in Maryville.

The one I usually go to has also reorganized - same space but a different layout. They seem to have some new things and I didn't see anything missing that I liked from there.

There's one about 2 miles from my house, but it's a small one. Their scrap aisle used to be really good, but just yesterday I was there & they've reduced the amount of space by half & with the re-organization there's now less than half the amount of product. It's mostly stickers now. There were a few more choices in CS but albums were reduced to only 2 kinds. The whole craft section was changed. There's now less than 1/3 the amount of ribbon they used to have.

Ours never did have the Cricut.

And remember when everyone was getting the MM kits on clearance? Our store had them at full price and never seemed to sell ANY! I complained to DH one night on the way home & he said to just get one if I really wanted it. I mean at $10 it was still a deal - just not as good as the rest of you were getting. He went the next evening & they were completely gone!!! :eeek: He asked & they'd packed them up & sent them to another store - out of state?? They've not had much since then & NEVER any clearance!! Now it's not worth even checking.

our Walmart recently became a super walmart and they had two full aisles of scrapping stuff.....then, POOF! Overnight, they have 1/4 of one aisle now. I don't know what happened.

I was just commenting the other day that my local Walmart had decreased the scrapbook supplies--mostly stickers, nothing on sale. It is one aisle, mostly stickers, and that's it. Not really worth going to anymore. They seem to have increased the amount of make your own wedding crafts. Does that really sell better than scrapbook supplies?

KAMommy it is nice to meet your too. So you and SIOH are just down the road from me We visited Maryville College a few years ago with our oldest son , but he decided on East Tennessee State University instead. Maryville is a pretty town, and you are so close to the Smokies.
