Has Universal surpassed Disney on "Imagineering"?

And people love it…Disney seems to have the Midas touch, leveraging our emotional attachment to their cartoons.

Disney is giving its customers what they want and what they are willing to pay for. :rolleyes1

We went to US last year. While the HP area was neat, all my daughter and husband could say was imagine what Disney could have done with this area. They believe so much more could and should have been done with HP.

What Disney would have done with Potter is exactly the reason Potter is now at Universal. They got their pitch in and Rowling was not liking it,Disney wanted to change and scale down Rowling's vision for a Potter land in a theme park.Trust me Disney's version of Potter would have been a major let down.

I listen to several Podcasts and most of the hosts are hoping the Harry Potter is the game changer that motivates Disney to work on new attractions. I hope so too. As I read on a previous post, Disney is stagnant and they need to start investing in new attractions in Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

I know Pandora is coming to AK but that's another 3 years away, minimum, and I wonder if that's going to be enough.

We added 3 days onto the start of our trip to do this. My kids asked and I didn't make the final decision until I saw all that the WWOHP was and realized that this was something that we MUST see. We are staying at Portofino and I don't find it too much cheaper, but it is worth the experience!

I recently watched the Making of Diagon Alley video that NBC made after hearing my boyfriend rave about it.

I would have to say that they have exceeded Disney's immersive imagineering. I think the closest thing to WWoHP that Disney has done is (maybe) that Tangled BATHROOM!

After watching the episode we are cutting our last 4 days of our trip and heading over to Universal for a 4 night stay. Oddly enough, it's way cheaper and we will be staying in the on site nicer hotels. (With tickets included its cheaper than the Beach Club resort alone for those nights WITH my 40% military discount at Disney)

That is 4 days Disney isn't getting my money. How about everyone else?

This also dropped us down from needing annual passes to only needing 10 day park hoppers! So more money saved by me and lost by Disney!
