Has Something Changed re: AKL-CL and View Selection

It has been my understanding that you can not select a view request for these few rooms. According to these post you now can, is this correct?

There are only five rooms. I can't imagine a request is going to help much.

I don't doubt that online check-in process for AKV & AKL gives the option of requesting savanna view. However, that doesn't mean the room assigners pay any attention to the request. As supersnoop says, there are only 5 lock off two bedrooms in the DVC concierge booking category and not all of those have the savanna view. When you factor in arrival & departure dates and length of stay, it's really just a roll of the dice. I do not think it makes any difference what you request. IMO, factors other than a request will virtually always dictate the assignment.

They do give you options now- but they really don't apply! So I just checked off both savannah views (even though the DVC CL villas look at neither offered) and hope they might take it to mean put me on the Savannah side instead of the pool side (which I have had the last time or 2). Either way, it's no big deal- I'm just happy to be there.

Just because an option is listed in the online check in form, that doesn't mean that it exists.

We have also had MS note our reservations with a view request, later to find out that it wasn't done. Sadly we double check each reservation to ensure that the requests were actually made.

As far as I am aware nothing has changed. The listing you get for online check-in is one created for cash guests getting club level rooms through Disney including all the club level rooms that are not DVC, for which savanna view is a request, and it does not mean it will be recognized as applicable to a DVC reservation.

I stayed in a club one bedroom with friends about 6 years ago. We requested savanna view and got pool view. We talked to the cm at the desk, he said the room assignments are like a jigsaw puzzle because they are 5 lockoffs, sometimes they are 2 bedrooms and sometimes they are separate.

MS will not accept view requests for Value rooms. I think they do for Club Level (at least they did the one time I booked it) but with so few Club Level rooms you have to be very lucky to get what you requested. As DebbieB said, it's a challenge for them to assign those rooms given the different check-in dates, varying lengths of stays and room configurations and the occupancy rate.

I wonder... if someone requested savanna view and got savanna view, they might assume that they got it because they requested it, and not realize that (perhaps) the room assigner paid no attention to what they requested and it was just luck of the draw.
