Has someone ever quoted you before you got a chance to edit your post?

I remember this happened! I said somethign and then edited it to change what I had said and by then someone had already quoted me so my words were "set in stone" so to say! Some people are just too quick

Ha! You can't change it now!!!

One time I couldn't post a new thread--kept getting a message that I'd already posted it, but I hadn't. So I went in and made a different title, posted it and then went in to do the edit to what I had originally wanted to post. In the mean time, someone was trying to reply. When she hit reply a totally different thread was there. Confused the heck out of her.

I said something that some people misunderstood, and someone quoted before I could change, I was very annoyed.

No. When I edit posts (with the exception of grammar/spelling/typo edits), I do the ETA to clarify what I said, or apologize, or somehow fix it.

I've been on other forums where they'll really nail you to the wall for changing a post, and make you out to be a liar. So, for me it's always better just to leave it as is and try to fix it with the ETA.

Yes ~ this just happened to me a couple of days ago for the first time. I said something negative about Florida and I admit I was exaggerating a bit, but it was my perception of the situation. Anyhow, I was quoted and corrected within moments. So, I added a ETA to explain that it was simply how I felt, not fact. Made me kind of feel bad.

Maybe I was just being a space cadet that particular night, but I could have sworn that I was nailed on something that never made it to the final post. If I didn't know better, I would have thought the person was reading over my shoulders as I typed. It freaked me out.
