I guess I am going to have to start opening my script bottle and counting the pills at the pharmacy before I leave. I got my script for 15mg, 30 count, of Adderal yesterday and there was 4 pills missing. Doesn't CVS have cameras up everywhere?

I lost a big battle with CVS mail order pharmacy. They sent the WRONG prescription. They had more reasons than I can remember for why it wasn't their fault and why they weren't going to refund my money or send the correct medicine for free.. Most galling to me was their claim that the actual prescription order is not kept, so they couldn't even look to see if they had filed the order correctly. Just easier for me to have a new prescription sent and pay the $10 co-pay.
My next favorite is them not closing the bottle properly, and I open the mailer and all 90 pills are inside the envelope and outside the bottle. One hole in the mailing envelope, and there would be pills all over the post office.

All I can figure is their prices are so low insurance companies prefer them. I mean, I have Cigna Health insurance, and had Cigna mail order pharmacy for years, but now Cigna uses CVS instead! Pretty bad when a competitor is cheaper for you start using them instead of your inhouse pharmacy.

Why not just take it back and tell them the count was incorrect? I know my pharmacy in Kroger would have no issue with correcting a mistake.

Go to pharmacy and let them know. If they do not want to be responsive, on my prescription paper it states if you are concern that an error may have occurred in the dispensing of your prescription you may contact the dept of consumer protection drug control division 800-842-2549. This for ct but they might know the number for your state

After you phone in with your complaint of short weighting, they should allow you to go back at your convenience, not necessairly the same day or the next day.

As for the mail order, an advantage of using a credit card instead of a debit card is easier disputing of errors.

This happened at Rite Aid with my son's Concerta prescription. I noticed the Rx bottle seemed less full after I got home and took it out of the bag. I returned immediately and spoke with the pharmacist. They could not give me the 4 pills that were missing since it is a controlled substance. They took my info and someone from their corporate headquarters contacted me, letting me know they were investigating the matter. After that, I would count the pills upon receipt in the store. The corporate office also sent me a small gift card since they couldn't replace the pills.

Adderall is a commonly abused drug. It is very likely that someone working at the pharmacy is skimming them and taking or selling them.
Definitely let them know about it.

Well they will know next month when I open the bottle right then and there and start counting them out. I know someone swiped them. But I just can't imagine how with cameras and all, right?

I am a pharmacist I currently work in a hospital. I have worked retail and there are many ways a prescription could be miscounted, however, Adderall and Concerta are schedule 2 stimulants and would not leave my pharmacy without being double counted and two signatures attesting to such. However, one bad apple employee can find more ways to divert a drug than you ever thought possible. They study camera angles and dead spots, they remove meds from bottles after they have been counted, I don't want to give anyone ideas so I will stop telling tales of problem employees. Tell the pharmacy and pharmacist in charge and make sure you have written documentation. If it keeps happening, contact the Board of Pharmacy. Every state has one.

I have Cigna too, but CVS isn't our mail order supplier. Interesting. Wonder if it's a regional thing?

Yes unfortunately you have to with certain things. I remember my husband got a painkiller prescription and sure enough it was less 5. I did call them and they did give,me what was missing.

Slightly off-topic, but I had vascular treatments involving many hospital stays. At the various hospitals I received narcotic pain meds thru my IV line every few hours. At one hospital, one time, the nurse injected the pain meds into my IV and there was no effect. Nothing. I had to spend a few hours in real misery waiting for the next injection, which thankfully was the real meds. To this day I'm convinced that nurse substituted my pain meds and keep the real stuff for her own purposes.

wow! a lot of times because its adderall.. u know. I had such a hard time getting mine filled in Florida. I'm in VA.. ach

The not so big secret with cameras is someone needs to look at them. And usually someone doesn't unless they review them to see what they are looking for. And it isn't difficult to shield your hands from a camera with you body.

This is not the first time it has happened. I remember a few months back I had one missing, I chalked that one up to just human error. Now I know better. I will just drop it off through the drive thru and pick it up through the drive thru. Not anymore. I will still drop it off like that, but next time, I will be there inside the store to pick it up and count it out in front of them. If they see me continuing to do this on every visit, this act will probably stop with my prescriptions.

It's an employer's plan or group plan's decision to move parts of the policies around to allocate cost and savings. And on top of that, during open enrollment, it's up to the subscriber to pick among those policies that the employer or group has picked.

Too long; didn't read: it's depends on your policy. Each Cigna is not the same.

Could be. But we USED to have Cigna Home Delivery pharmacy with Cigna, and the return address was in Nevada. With CVS, they come from from the EAst Coast.
