Has DCL ever NOT been able to dock at Cozumel??

We've booked a pricey private excursion out of Cozumel, which we will have to pay for no matter what. Has anyone ever heard of DCL not being able to dock at Cozumel? If yes, what was the situation: tropical storm, waves, etc.?

Yes, due to hurricane Lilli. We booked a dive/snorkel trip with Eagle Ray Divers. I did ask ahead of time what the policy was if the ship was unable to dock. I was advised we would NOT have to pay, and we were refunded our deposit.I e-mailed ERD from the ship when we were told we would not be able to make the port.

In our case, we've chartered a Cessna 206 for 5 hours, so there is no cancellation if we don't dock. That being said, I'm feeling OK that a hurricane at this time of year is unlikely. But I wonder will they dock if the sea is rough?

They will dock if at all possible....but the fine print on your contract says that they can change the ports of call, etc. as needed. They don't do it lightly, but it does happen.

Not sure what to tell you....but there is a risk of not being able to dock at any port.

We've been on "magical" cruises a couple of times at hurricane season--when we went to alternate ports due to weather situations. Grand Cayman seems especially susseptible to not getting in as it is a tender port. They really do try to do the cruise as scheduled, but weather issues can happen in any season.

In December 2002, the closed the Cozumel port, but we were still able to dock. I think they closed it as we were docking. It was like 7 foot swells. It was over the pier.
