Has Coral Reef improved?

Ah! I was there last Tuesday night and both my fiance and I loved our meals! I'm bummed to read so many negative reviews. We ate there for lunch in April and again for dinner last week and we were really pleased. Both times, service was great and we were seated in a timely manner. This last time we sat right up against the tank! I had a scallop dinner with some couscous-ish pasta and my fiance had the NY strip - both meals were awesome. And the desserts...AMAZING! We can't wait to go back!

We ate there last Tuesday night and thought the food was great. My wife had the catch of the day with risotto and it was great! My steak was excellent as well.

Definitely one of the 2-3 best places we ate the entire trip! :thumbsup2

I personally would not go back. Service was the worst DH and I had all trip. We had the every back booth so we could not see anything and asked to be moved and where told there was no more tables. However the party that sat directly after us asked and was moved to a better location. I had the Lobster Ravioli for lunch and it wasn't good. There was plenty of lobster chunks however the sauce had WAY to much saffron in it, so it completely overwhelmed everything. All I could taste was the Saffron. DH had the Trout and LOVED his, hes super picky so that's saying something. However, it was the service that put it it on the never again list. Our server was rude, I'm pretty sure he forgot about us (he had a 4 table section and only had 3 tables full) our alcoholic drinks came out about 10 minutes after ordering them, then another 5 for him to bring water, then another 10 for bread. You see where this is going, it took us an hour and forty minutes for lunch. When he cleared the salad we split he took my fork and when we finally received our entrees I had no fork. DH had to go hunt him down and ask for a fork since he was nowhere to be found. It was pretty terrible.

We were just there on Oct 18th, and it was one of my mom's favorite meals of the trip. She had the rainbow trout, I had the catch of the day and we both enjoyed our meals. Our server wasn't the best friendly-wise, but she was efficient and we never went without. The kids also ate all of their meals.

DD and I also ate here last Nov and we had great food and an excellent server.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

I guess I've never been to Coral Reef when it was bad. I have been there twice since 2009 and found both times to be very good. The first time I ate at Coral Reef I ordered the New York strip steak and found it to be much better than the steak I had at Le'Cellier earlier in that week. This past August I ordered the grilled Mahi-Mahi and also found it to be very good. The service was good, not great but good. I will not hesistate to return to Coral Reef again.

What is that oozy center of the chocolate wave? Caramel?

And for anyone who has been there recently: is the lobster ravioli still on the menu? I don't see it on the updated menu on allears.net.

We were there on Monday for an early dinner, and except for being seated later than we should have been, it was the best meal of our trip. We had the land and sea appetizer - which was small but tasty. For the main courses, I had the catch of the day (sea bass) with the scallop risoto, DH had the steak, and the kids had the pork tenderloin. All of the meals were wonderful.

We had a table by the aquarium and our service was good. DH and I both had margaritas and the kids had slushies, which were all yummy. The kids and I had the chocolate wave cake - which was just o.k., and DH had the Jack Daniels Mousse which he loved.

Oozy is a good descriptor. It's molten chocolate, like a ganache-type substance.

The pasta dish changes pretty often, at least once each season. I think the current pasta is fregola, which is kind of like couscous, with sea scallops.
