I've had rooms booked at the HRH for our trip and have the confirmation notice, but it looks like I might have to drop 1 night. I booked at the fan club rate for 4 nights. When I called to check the rate for 3 nights only rack rates were avail. Arghhhhh!!
If I cancel a night will my rate, for the 3 nts, revert to the rack rates!!!!!:(

Call and ask. If your promotional rate is pay for one night and get one free (or pay for 3 and get 1 free) you may be out of luck. Maybe your rate only requires a 3 night stay.

If you can't get a rate you like have them check RPH and PBH. It seems like HRH is the more difficult hotel to get reservations.

I had to cancel a day of our 3 night stay that I had booked for PBH in July 02. When I checked in I told them I may not be able to stay for the 3 nights. They issused my room keys for all three nights and told me when I got ready to leave just call the front desk and they would check me out. I would not be able to check out early on the t.v. if i left early. So the morning we were leaving early I did call the front desk and in a flash was ready to go and told I may stop at the front desk if I'd like to view charges or I was free to go. They went over charges while on the phone as well. Everything was in order and I was offered a bellman and valet service connections while doing my check out. It was quick and painless no hassle at all no rate change no problems. I would do it this way if I were you.

I originally booked 4 nights at PBH at rack rate. When the fan club rate became available, I was told there was a 5 night minimum stay required to qualify for the rate. I booked it anyway, because 5 nights at fan club was still cheaper than 4 nights at rack. I phoned back a few days later to see if there would be a problem with me checking out a day early, but paying for the 5th night anyway. The reservation clerk was extremely helpful, and over-rode the 5 night requirement to accommodate me because I was unable to change my flights.

I'd suggest you call back and tell them you are unable to stay 3 nights because of flights and see what they say. If they say you have to go back to rack rates for the 3 nights, do the math and see which is cheaper. It makes sense for them to let you off the hook, otherwise they'd have an empty room that night.

Thanks for the replies.
The rate I am booked under is fan club and unfortunatly it is the 1st night I need to cancel. I'll call and plead for an override of the 4 night minimum stay!~
Does anyone know if I must have a fan club card for EACH room , or does one card cover them all (I have 3 rms booked)??

When you phone, tell them you were unable to make your flight arrangements for that first day. For some reason, they like to hear the "flight" problems!

I don't know about the fan club card. A good person to ask might be tinkerbarb.

I booked the fan club rate at the Royal Pacific starting on a Sunday night for 9 nights before I had booked flights. I couldn't get decent flights out for the previous Friday - Monday. Tuesday was the best I could do. When I called reservations and told them the situation, they shaved the first 2 nights off, but the reservationist had to get supervisor approval 1st, then call me back.
