Has anyone watched NYE fireworks from Contemporary balcony?

I booked a theme park view room at the Contemporary over NYE. My current plan is to try and watch the NYE fireworks in Epcot, but my Fiance does not do well with crowds and it might be too much. If it gets overwhelming for him my plan is to leave after our dinner and go back to our room and watch the fireworks from our balcony. Has anyone done this before? Do they have the music on the TV like they do for normal fireworks? Is the view good?

I know you can watch the fireworks from the side of the Contemporary that faces Magic Kingdom. Not sure if you are too far from Epcot regardless of which floor you are on.

I have watched many FW from the CR balcony. (Regular, not NYE.) They are wonderful!! It feels like you can reach out and touch them. They also have a TV channel that streams the soundtrack.

I don't think you'll be able to see the Epcot fireworks from a theme park view room. You would need to be on the Bay Lake side. Not sure if the view would be that good as Epcot is about 2 miles away from the Magic Kingdom.

However you'll have a spectacular view of the NYE fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. In addition to the fireworks over the MK, they also launch fireworks all around the Seven Seas Lagoon during NYE. You could do a search on you tube for videos.

I am assuming (always a risk) that you mean watching MK Fireworks right from your balcony, right?
I believe Epcot will be miserable for your fiancé if he doesn’t like crowds. I think going back to the CR is The kindest thing to do.
You have been wondering this for months.
Good Luck with your decision.

Sorry I wasn't very clear, I meant going back to the hotel to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks, I know Epcot won't be visible from all the way over there. Has anyone listened to the music from the TV in the room for the NYE fireworks? Or only the normal ones? I could pull up an old youtube video so we can have the sound otherwise. For Epcot will play it by ear how he's doing. I think for me he'd try to stay so I have to keep an eye on him and see if he's panicking or not.

Yes, we have. The view is fine.
They did NOT provide the NYE fireworks soundtrack on TV. Only HEA was on the TV

As to the crowds, they are heavy but honestly, we felt we were in lesser crowds than we do any other time. They employ such great crowd control measures you do not feel like you are in near as many people as there are there. At other times of the year they just let folks flow on their own and that always makes me feel the crowd more. It's hard to explain until you are actually there among it all. The only time it was obvious what time of year it was was when we had to stand in a line for the bathroom.

Ok good to know if we go back I'll have last years video pulled up to provide a soundtrack.

That might be helpful for him if the cast members are keeping things organized and moving. Our dinner reservations are at 7:15 in France so I figure it'll take some time to be seated and then maybe an hour or hour and a half to eat and then we can enjoy the countries a bit or have time to make it back to the hotel if we need to. I've heard the bathrooms outside the International Gateway are less crowded, would this be a good option to head to or should we just go near whatever is closest to us at the time?

The bathroom outside IG is less crowded. But, consider bags. You'll have to go in/out security so you'd only want to use that one if you are bagless, or can leave bags with someone inside while you go out.
I opted to head to the bathroom closest to me vs walking out there but we weren't near it often. I just didn't wait till the last minute. And of course, use the one in the restaurant while you are there (though we still found a long line at Via Napoli's bathroom)

That was my earlier comment. From the side of the Contemporary that faces Magic Kingdom, you can do that. The other side faces the lake.

I can only imagine how long the lines will be, the girls bathroom seems to always have long lines on a slow day lol. Will definitely use the restaurants before we leave. I guess if we happen to be near the International Gateway we'll do that, otherwise we'll just use what is closest to us.

If we go back to the hotel we'll definitely watch the fireworks from our room since we'd be there to get away from the crowds. I'd imagine the public spaces to watch the fireworks will be packed even at the hotels.

Just a reminder the Holiday / NYE Fireworks are normally scheduled for 12/30 and 12/31. I would agree with @GADisneyDad14 that a TPV CR balcony is an excellent place to watch the Fireworks over the 7 Seas Lagoon and the MK without the crowds.

Thanks! We'll be inside Magic Kingdom on the 30th so that was why I was hoping to see Epcot's fireworks instead of the same two nights in a row.

I haven’t watched NYE fro a CR TPV, but I have watched July 4th fireworks. We did not leave the sliding door open because of mosquitoes (summer, of course) but we could hear the soundtrack softly anyway. The view is great!

Not sure about the NYE fireworks but I stayed at the Contemporary last October and the music from the Halloween fireworks (Happy Hallowishes) was played on the in-room TV. I believe it was channel 105?

The MK on the 30th will also be very crowded.
Good Luck
Ya I figured it would be. We aren't arriving until 3pm and have dinner reservations at 7 at Be Our Guest. So I think our plan will be to get back towards there as soon as we can, watch the 6:30pm fireworks and then go have dinner and leave. It'll also give us a good idea how to handle the next day.

I wonder if they had music for that since it is at the same time as a normal fireworks? I'll definitely try and see if the music will be on the TV, but will have a backup plan with youtube :)

I listened to that when I was at Bay Lake Tower, I'm not sure if it's because those are at the same time as the normal fireworks. It would be nice if they had the music for the NYE fireworks.

Yup... and unless recently changed it's still labeled as Wishes (tears up a little)....

FWIW, We watched the July 3 (same show as July 4) MK fireworks from the bridge between BOG and 7DMT.
I would reccomend that area for NYE, too, since it’s less crazy than the hub/main area and is still a great show with fireworks all around you...it’s a great location and interesting location for the pyro and taking pictures, you get the large fireworks over Beauty and Beast castle, and the lower fireworks over Cinderella, and you can still see the 360 perimeter ones. (Especially since the holiday shows are not projection intensive)
Plus it’s an easy walk to BOG ;)
