has anyone used the virtual academy for homeschooling?

We are considering this program for our kids.

With as much change as we have going on this year I think this would be a really good option for them. If we dont get moved before school starts in CO it may be our only option.

I am trying to lessen the amount of transitions they have to make. They would have to start new schools here and then have to start new schools again in CO. I figure if we can get them enrolled in the K-12 program now we can take our time once we get there as well and find schools that would really work for them. I just think its a lot to dump on kids to move to a new State, without any extended family, and then make them start a new school without knowing anyone. I did it so much as a child I would like to make it a little easier on them.


Has anyone done this for homeschooling? What did you think of it?

We are going to start using doing WAVA this year for my son. We are really excited. I have talked to several people and they have all had very good things to say about it. A friend of my daughters has used it for her 3 girls, she had me over and showed me all the books & gave me a tour of the website. Looks really well done to me.

My materials have shipped and will be here on Wed!

We plan to use this for Art and Science this year. I've read great reviews of the whole program online.

(We're using Sing, Spell, Read & Write for Language Arts; Saxon for Mathemetics; and unsure about Social Studies/History.)

Well I found out that they will let us start here and transfer when we move with no problems. Looks like this is going to be better than I had hoped.

We are doing this next year, the public school virtual charter school thing. I homeschooled and picked my own curriculum this last school year and it was expensive having to buy everything myself! So I chose to do this this year. Although Wisconsin had a waiting list but both my children were taken off the waiting list. They provide a laptop for EACH child, a wireless printer, and the router, along with all the learning material. Laptops will be arriving tomorrow along with router and printer, and will get the rest of the materials by august 15th.
