If so, could you tell me about it? Is there a charge to use the fitness center? Does it have hot tub, sauna, steam room? Other amenities?

We just got back from a weekend at the Mirage and decided that if SSR's spa is anything like the Mirage's, this might be the dealmaker for us. :teeth:

OKW has a fitness room but not a spa, correct?

Thanks in advance.

I have not been, but our neighbor who is a DVC member as well, went in January, she said it was the best spa she has ever been too, and couldn't say enough about it, I wish I could give you more details, but it sounds incredible!! I can't wait to give it a try some day!

I have used the spa there twice and loved it. First time my daughter and I did "my first spa experience" and had manicures and pedicures. The last time, I had a facial and a massage.

I think its an absolutely beautiful place, and the ambience is very elegant and relaxing. There is a hot tub and sauna (pretty sure) in the locker room.

I can't wait to go back - I don't know why they don't advertise it more. Esp. bcs its right next to the pool and arcade at SSR and it was really easy for my DH to get the kids lunch take them swimming etc while I was pampered.

Lastly, the fitness center is separate from the spa (in the same building tho.) It was really really nice - and free.

The Spa is wonderful. We also really enjoy the fitness center at no cost. Even when we're staying at BWV we plan a day at SSR for the pool and fitness center.

There was a $20/day fee at the Mirage which gave you use of the fitness room, locker, towels, robe, spa slippers, private and public jacuzzis, sauna, steam room, AND juices and snacks :hyper:.

But FREE would be even better. ;)

Yes the fitness center is complimentary for DVC members. You have to show your room card and sign in. It's a very nice fitness center.

I had the "Best Pedicure" of my life at the SSR spa last Oct. So relaxing and peaceful. I'd plan it towards the end of your trip (as that is when your poor barking dogs could use it the most)! Can't wait to go back for another!

Enjoy!

Barb, I love the Vegas spas, although I have never visited the Mirage Spa before. Mandalay Bay Spa is my favorite!

SSR's spa reminds me of the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian, as it is more clean lines and modern. Very nice but not tropical looking as I would imagine the Mirage Spa is. The Mandalay Spa is very tropical as well.

At SSR, the womens area has the locker room with robes and slippers, a vanity with all the amenities to get ready, showers, a small seating area, a hot whirlpool, a eucalyptus steam room and a sauna. It is on the lower level accessible by elevator or stairs. The treatment rooms are upstairs and I agree that they give FABULOUS pedicures!! It's not a huge spa, like Vegas Spas tend to be, but it is not as busy either.

In the waiting area (unisex) there is water, tea, fruit and nuts available.

As posted, the workout area is free and has the purtiest equipment I have ever seen! REALLY NICE!

I dont think you will be disappointed in SSR's Spa amenities and treatment offerings if you like the Mirage offerings. Just not as lush and tropical.

I did the mystacial forest massage..it was OK..but I am a massage snob

I also did the hydromassage and that was AMAZING...prob the best spa treatment I have ever had.

Again, Im a spa snob, I go every 6weeks in Boston for massage, facial and pedi/mani...and the SSR spa is top notch.

Do not miss the hydro

I thought I read somewhere that there was an indoor pool at SSR spa. Can anyone tell me if there is?

I'd definitely recommend it. There are a few specials each month that are 20% off for DVC members, which made the massage more affordable. Without that discount, I'd have never spent the $$$. The massage room and table were excellent and the therapist was quite skilled.

I did spend extra time after the massage, enjoying the jacuzzi and sauna. Very relaxing, and very nice locker room.

The Spa is great. It has a whirlpool, sauna, and steam room.

The workout room is also excellent.

Enjoy!

MNDISFAM- I think by looking at your trip ticker that we will be on the same cruise. We are going to be at SSR on 6/1-3 and then BCV thru 6/10 before we head off to the cruise.

I was contemplating getting a massage on the cruise, but thought that one at SSR might be just as nice, if not better and figured the 20% off wouldn't hurt either.

Any other recommended treatments??? Thanks in advance!

I'm I understanding you right, that the whirpool and sauna is no charge if your there getting a message?

ITA, Liferbabe. I love this spa and everything it has to offer. Now if I could just spend a little more time in the gym, nah. :rotfl2:

Or can you use the whirlpool and sauna if you are just using the fitness room?

Thanks everyone for all the info. I usually don't use the fitness room when we stay at WDW (the walking is enough  ), but if we do buy in to DVC, I'm sure there will be trips when we go just to relax and don't do much of the parks. So SSR is looking better and better.

Lifebabe, you are right, Mirage's spa was very ornate. I googled a pic of the whirlpools. There are three private whirlpools on the left and a large public on the right--
