Has anyone used the portable tv/vcr that you plug into AC/DC?

I saw one at Wal-Mart for $189. However, I am curious as how you would anchor it? I mean it someone hit you and this thing went flying, it could kill someone. But the box said you could take it in your car or boat. I guess they think you can figure out how to keep it from moving. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a Durango & place ours in the floor console area of the back seat. The rear of the TV is wedged between the front bucket seats & a bungee cord goes over the top & secures underneath the rear console. It does not seem that all vehicles may lend themselves to securing such a TV, but we do the best we can. Unless it is permanently built-in somehow, I think there will always be the risk of injury in an accident, but there is always the risk of injury in an accident anyway. Hope this helps a bit.

BTW, I'm a GSU grad '82. Seems, as I recall, Glennville is near there?

We have a Ford Windstar and use the TV/VCR all the time while travelling.

We bought a "stand" for it at Target about a year ago. The "stand" sits on the floor between the seats and has velcro to hold the TV down. It also has wedged shaped pieces of cardboard so that you can tilt the TV up or down. If you're interested, we found ours in the automotive accessory department at Target.

Before we had the van, we had an Explorer and we used to wedge the TV between the two front seats.

Have a good time!

:) we have a suburban and we have a simple piece of plywood right on the console in the middle of the front seats, roll up a towel on each side and its wedged in there . right in front of the tv on the floor is a box filled with vcr tapes...works great.

We use a stand as well, although its really a stepstool, and we place the tv on it, and then do the bungee cord thing. We've taken 1o hour trips and have never had a problem using it, or having it fall, etc.

Others have said that the bungee cords will not work in a crash. It is better to use tie down straps. There are also consoles(empty) you can get that mount to the floor. I saw some on a web site(can't remember where) ranging in price from 99-300. Unless you already own a tv to use it would be cheaper to buy one of the consoles with the tv/vcr or vcp in it. They run around 249 and up. I believe target has one for around 300. We have used the wedge that Target has and the TV is wedged in there pretty tight. I don't think it would hold in a roolover but would in a rear end or head on type collision

Yes, it is 45 min from Statesboro. My husband and I both graduated from GSU as well!!What a small world! Thank you for the info on the TV. I am glas to see so many people are using one. My DH is dreading only a 5 hr. ride w/our 4 kids! Can't say as I blame him though. HA!HA! I just watched our planning video and I am getting excited again amidst all the cutbacks and bad reports!
