You can also trade in your free ticket for a birthday gift card equal too the amount of the single ticket (adult or child depending). I think that's cool because I already bought park hopper tickets so my mom is able to get a $69 gift card to buy herself a birthday present![]()
You can only do this if you have an AP or a multi-day ticket that is good on your birthday, as it sounds is the case with your mom.

Maybe they don't want to give out too many FPs since they don't know how many people will be requesting them each day and if too many people had a bunch of FPs then it would sort of defeat the purpose. So from that perspective I can understand it but if someone was standing outside the gate and selling 2 FPs for $69 I can't imagine anyone would take them up on that offer. The whole thing seems strange unless I'm missing something. I'm planning on getting my gift card and sticking with the regular FPs.
