I have a hard time imagining that at DL you only get one FP from the list when you get four at MK. I'm willing to bet it works the same way with two from Donald's list and two from Daisy's as have been reported on the WDW board.

But I think we need to wait until a DISer finds out first so we know for sure how it works at DLR.

That would be my bet, too. Still, would 4 FP be equivalent to a $69 gift card in value? I wouldn't value FP quite that high.

Also, I know not as many people as you would think knew about the birthday buttons before this promo. Every time either myself or DBF have gone to DLR wearing our birthday buttons, we have always been asked by a family where we got them and that it was their birthday too.

I bet when you go to get your free ticket, FP, Fun Card or whatever the CM will probably give you a birthday button there or remind you to go to City Hall when you get in the park to go get one.

Yes, my point when I mentioned the birthday buttons was more people knew about them than before and it was also a way you can see how many people are probably taking advantage of the new promotion.

We will be going on my DH's birthday. We have APs and he already knows he will choose the gift card.

OK, so I was finally able to get some clarification on this whole thing.

Main Entrance Vacation Planners will distribute one each of both Donald and Daisy Fastpasses to the Birthday Guest, and up to five other members of their party.

They will be valid for one use on one Attraction on Donald's list and one Attraction on Daisy's list, and will be collected as normal Fastpasses by the appropriate Cast Member at the Attraction upon redemption.

As to why DLR is offering only two Fastpasses while WDW is offering four, truth be told, I don't have much information other than the stock response which is always put out when these kinds of things happen, which is basically that Walt Disney World conducts their own analysis of guest and market conditions in determining their operations, and that conditions there may be different than conditions at the DLR.

It also has a lot to do, IMO, with the fact that we're issuing actual Fastpasses at the ticket booths. Florida, from what I understand, is offering tickets/vouchers/cards of some sort which can be redeemed for Fastpasses at the Attractions themselves.

I don't get why 2 FPs are equal to a free ticket into the park or a $69 gift card. Maybe they don't want to give out too many FPs since they don't know how many people will be requesting them each day and if too many people had a bunch of FPs then it would sort of defeat the purpose. So from that perspective I can understand it but if someone was standing outside the gate and selling 2 FPs for $69 I can't imagine anyone would take them up on that offer. The whole thing seems strange unless I'm missing something. I'm planning on getting my gift card and sticking with the regular FPs.

I just became a Deluxe AP holder on Saturday (hurray! ) and while I was in line I picked a Backstage Pass magazine. Here's what it has to say about some of the Celebration campaign offers:

"If your Annual Passport is not blocked out and is valid for admission on your birthday, you can choose one of these birthday treats instead:

- A birthday fun card with a value equal to the price of a 1-Day, 1-Park ticket to be used for merchandise, in-Park Disney's Photopass service, and tour experiences; or

- A 1-Day/1-Park ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday; or

- A special birthday FASTPASS ticket for select attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday.

And if your birthday happens to fall on a day that your Passport is blocked out, you'll receive a 1-Day/1-Park Ticket."

Exactly, but someone cannot just "trade in your free ticket for a birthday gift card equal too the amount of the single ticket" as iKristin said. They can ONLY do so if they have a AP or multi-pass entrance on that day - as is the case with her mom.

I think Disney is missing the boat here for blocked out AP's (but no one asked me.) Why would you go to Disneyland, stand in line to get your birthday gift from Disney and then 'enjoy a one day, one park' ticket? It would be cheaper for Disney to just give you a blockout day ticket ($40 value) rather than a one day - one park ticket. This doesn't make sense to me. Although you can upgrade your one day one park ticket to an AP (so I've heard) I somehow doubt you can trade it in for a block-out day ticket that would REALLY let you enjoy the parks on your birthday.

But then, I really don't get the free FP thing either.

The FREE promotion? The one they dont even have to offer but they are doing so in good spirit? We are talking about the same one right?

After looking at that thread, I was a little bothered to say the least. People who are given something for free, are still going to sit back and complain about it? Be grateful people!!

I think Disney Dreams said it best:

It's the same one, and yes, people are complaining about it. That's sort of what happens on DISBoards. If people aren't happy about something, it becomes a place to express that unhappiness.

I think the extra fast passes are nice, but others don't feel it's much of a birthday perk. (Which is why Disney is offering more than one option for people to choose from for the free gift they are offering guests.)

Ya know, no one is planning to storm the gates b/c of confusion over the FP issue. It's easy to just choose the ticket or the future ticket or the Fun Card. But once you start reading about the FP, and comparing how WDW is doing it vs how DLR seems to be doing it, it just makes you start really scratching your head over what kind of "value" this FP really is, and it bothers people! And since we have this place to write about things, we write about it.

Free is great, but giving something free that's free already, and not giving enough to make it something desirable (compared to a free ticket or a giftcard), just makes NO SENSE.

And especially when it comes not even a week after the Dream FP where you got a FP tab for every FP ride in BOTH parks, it feels even worse.

But no one is writing letters or refusing to go b/c of the relatively bad FP offering, they are just talking about it on a message board (that, it's been said, is read by disney people).

Amen. The more I read about the Birthday promotion the less I actually want to make a second trip in peak season back to the resort to just get a fun card or two fastpass (especially since I'm a bit of a chicken for most of the FP rides hehe)

Can anyone confirm which attractions will be offering Birthday FastPasses? Is Indy and Roger Rabbit on the list for major attractions? And what is the full list for minor attractions?

And if we go for my husband's birthday in November, will the Haunted Mansion (Holiday) be offering the Birthday FP?

I don't think anyone here has utilized that option so no one knows. However, I bet if you call Disneyland you could find out an answer. (If you do, let us know.)

As for Haunted Mansion, no one knows that answer as it has not been stated by Disneyland. In fact, there are rumors (not yet confirmed as far as I know) that HMH may not happen this year because Disneyland is doing special things for HM's 40th anniversary this year. Because of the FP? There are 3 other options...free entry that day if you don't have a ticket for the day, a gift card in the amount of a one-day one-park ticket if you have admission, or a one-day one-park ticket for some time until the NEXT birthday.

Or for the possible lack of HMH? One ride?

It was DH who said it, not me, when I told him there probably wouldn't be a HMH this year. He's a real Nightmare Before Christmas fan. But we have time to decide.

I just took a survey from Disneyland last night. It was about the Muppet Experience scavenger hunt type thing that AP holders were able to take part in last month.

And in the survey, it asked where I heard about it, and one of the choices was "a non-Disney forum, like miceage, etc". Disboards are part of "etc"!

They are aware of the forums out there, that is for sure.
