Has anyone used the military discount offered through Disney?

I was wondering if anyone has used the "Disney's Armed Forces Salute" discount. They are offering 40% off of resort rooms until Dec. 19th. We are going to the Polynesian for only 200.00 a night! The ticket discount they are giving all active duty and their families is incredible. The active duty member gets a free 5 day pass and he or she can buy up to 5 passes for friends and family for 99.00 each. Now keep in mind these are 5 day passes and they are also good at the water parks and Disney Quest. All of these great deals end on Dec. 19 which is a sham because I know alot of people that probably won't be back from Iraq by then to use it, but it is still a great offer and if you are military I don't see how you could pass it up. I was wondering if anyone has any experiences to share about this. Thanks alot!

We are doing the Dream Maker Silver Package in August 10-20. DH and I wanted to be in WDW a day before our package started and a day after it ended to take full advantage of the of the package. Initially we had rooms books for the extra two nights at the Contemporary through the SOG. But once the Salute to Military Deal came out we were able to get the two extra nights at the Coronado (where we are staying the entire time) for $109 tax included per night (water view). We jumped right on the deal in order for us not to move back and forth for the first and last nights of our vacation.

i've got reservations for the GF 3 rooms for a week in the end of Sep early Oct time $225 a night for gar view and $265 a night for lagoon view great rate with the tickets so cheap also.

These are 5 day park hoppers that include DQ and the Water Parks. Here is my question.....do the days need to be used consecutively or can we use a few then do a water park then use the rest? My brother in law is in the Army and we are planning a trip down in October for 7 days. We want to do 5 full park days plus a water park in themiddle and have one day left to just "be" by the pool. Is this possible using these wonderfully priced passes?

Also, can they be purchased at any ticket window at WDW or only the one at MK that is marked " Military Passes" ?

Thanks for the advice.

Linda

We are also taking advantage of the Military Special. We will be at the All Star Sports in October for $66 a night (including tax). Wanted the Movies but they were booked for our time frame. This trip is all about our 3 year old son who has nearly worn out his Disney planning video since it arrived. If it were just my soldier and me we would try out a moderate or deluxe resort but with our 3yr old and 6 month old, we would rather sleep cheap and spend money on food and souvenirs.

Just a side note, but I can happily add that the CMs that wo/man the Military reservations line are *wonderful.* I've called several times to get options, prices, yada for my friend who is too busy welcoming her hubby home to call ;) and they've all been very helpful and knowledgeable.

Linda - the days do not need to be used consecutively. They only need to be used by December 19. However, there are no plus options like park hoppers. They are 5 day passes. Whatever you can do in five days is covered by the pass. So, you couldn't do 5 full park days plus a water park day (6 days). You would have to squeeze the water park in on one of your 5 days or buy a separate admission ticket to the water park.

Hope that helps!

Our son will be home on leave in Nov, we're doing 4 nights Poly LV and 5 nights BWI WV. I believe $240 and $230 p/night. Wife and I have AP's.

I just called about 30 minutes ago and got my reservations. I just needed one night, for the last night of our trip (already had 5 nights with SoG). It's Mom and I that are going, and I thought "I want to stay somewhere I could never afford a whole week at, that's very girly, and would just be a real treat." I had it narrowed between GF and BC. They only had concierge at the BC left, so GF it is! I got it for $252 which includes tax. Since I'm splitting the cost with Mom $125 doesn't seem so bad. I'm very, VERY excited. And the reservation lady was extremely nice and helpful. Now, if DH could get it together so I could go and get my military ID and copies of his orders for the summer, I will be completely set!
