Any thoughts on it ? Good or bad...

At this point I do not plan on using it, but we leave Saturday and I was just curious if it is even something I could consider if I get down there and decide I want to...

I haven't but my friend just called to set up in-room sitting for their trip in June. It is $16.50 an hour for a 2 & 4 yr old, minimum of 4 hours plus $10 traveling fee. I know they asked her what the kids favorite characters are.

we've used Fairy Godmothers, and loved them! You may want to do a search on this forum for Fairy Godmothers or Kids Nite Out. You'll find many opinions.

Just a question for those who have used in room child care. Regardless of how they are screened doesn't it make you feel strange leaving you child in a private room with a complete stranger?

I posted this last week on a different thread:

We just used Kids Nite Out on 5/2 from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. I can't say I was 100% comfortable leaving my DS(5) and DD(1). The sitter was from France and I knew my DS was having a hard time understanding her. Both kids are also in daycare and so we are used to a "group" situation. My DS probably would have been happier in the kids club, but obviously the baby was too small and I didn't want her to be with the sitter by herself. The sitter took them to the playground and the baby was asleep by 7:30. She did some coloring with DS and then he was asleep by 8:30. Basically I look at it as "all's well that ends well." My husband and I had a fantastic dinner at Le Cellier and walked around World Showcase. I was a little put off the next day, however, when I saw that the sitter had eaten a bunch of my son's snacks (we had fed both kids dinner before the sitter came, figuring that would be easier on her).

That was my thinking exactly. They have the Disney Day Cares where you take your child... but leaving them in the room with someone you don't know... I don't think I like that... I have a 1 year old and they do not take 1 year olds at the Disney Day Care things... so the only option for us is the in-room... I was just curious what other people have experienced... I am such a worrier!

We have used Fairy Godmothers on every trip. They are really good and we do trust them. Ask for Vivian. She is awesome.

We went last May and used Fairy Godmothers too. Our boys were 5 and 7 at the time and it was great. I cant remember the ladies name but she was atleast in her late 50's and she took the boys to eat as well as the pool and the arcade. When we returned to the room the boys were sound asleep and she was there reading.

Our boys had such a good time with her that they are already asking for a babysitter when we go to this Disneyland this summer! :cheer2:

We used Fairy Godmothers when my son was 5 and believe me...we were a bit worried because he'd had a baby sitter before! I was a stay at home mom. I have to admit that we were in the Grand Floridian and just went down to V/A for dinner and came back so we weren't far away. The lady we had was wonderful though, she read stories to my son and they had fun..he warmed up to her right away which was a shock to us since he was not used to being around strangers. I guess I would go through the dis and see what I could find out about reviews and then I'd check with the service you want. They do back ground check's on all sitters they use. GOOD LUCK!

Every non-family babysitter is probably a stranger the first time you use them. I've heard nothing but good things about Fairy Godmothers for many, many years now.

We have used babysitting services in a variety of cities. Our rule has always been this: if either parent is uncomfortable with the sitter when he/she arrives (appearance, attitude, whatever), then, we simply tell the sitter, we've had a change in plans and pay them and send them on their way. We've never had to "enforce" this rule - we've always checked out a service, we've also made sure we were acquainted with the hotel concierge and asked that someone "check" with the room - and have told the sitter that the concierge or someone will call or come by to see if they need anything. We let the sitter know where we're going to be. Especially if the hotel has recommended a service provider or two, I feel more comfortable as the hotel (notwithstanding all the statements of "no liability") doesn't want guests to be unhappy or to feel the referral was to an indequate service.
