Has anyone used Milepoint.com? It is affiliated with Delta airlines flyer miles program and supposedly you can use miles to get deals on cruises and travel.

Thing is: the whole thing is so vague. Even when you go to the milepoint.com website, it doesn't really explain what it is about.

It looks like I could maybe get a good dealon DCL, but i don't know anything about the service, etc.

Anyone know?

Here I come to save the day!!

We've used Milepoint for both our last two cruises. The deal is, you pay 1K frequent flyer points to "join" Milepoint, then you can get discounted rates on cruises, hotels, vacations packages, etc. etc.
The cruise deals they offer are group rate bookings. They have the same rate that I got for my group (of 16) for our upcoming Sept. cruise.
It can be a great deal if you only have a few going, but as always, shop around.

Hope that helps.

DMS,
Thanks for the info. How was the service after you booked? Was everything as you expected? Were they difficult to get in touch with, make changes. etc?

Everything went as expected. The biggest 'problem', if you want to call it that, was after we signed up, the online price changed slightly (nothing drastic), apparently a more "current/updated" price. We called and talked with a TA and he got us the price that had been listed online. No hassles.

A couple tips, port charges and fees are NOT included in the price listed, but they are on the site. Also, only one person has to "join" Milepoint, so only 1K FF miles for the whole family.

Thanks for the info. On their site, they mention that you can use additional miles to save on the cruises. Does anyone know how that works? Can you actually buy a cruise with frequent flyer miles?

Also, the cruises available are all sailing within the next two months or so. Are all the deals last minute? Can you plan ahead with this site? Thanks again!

is anyone familiar with cruise4miles.com? they are apparently in partnership with United Airlines .. you can use frequent flyer miles to book cruises, or earn miles for cruises booked for cash .. course trying to get a quote (how many miles exactly) is turning out to be a major pain in the backside. :(

decolady, I think the additional miles they mention is the difference between their Silver level member (500 FF miles)and Gold level member (1000). I don't think you can redeem miles to pay for a cruise, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Also, just the front page has last minute cruises listed, my guess is cruises they are still trying to sell. Once a "member" you can search by date, up to about a year and a half out. You can also search by cruiseline or location.
