Has anyone tried these steaks and burgers? How is the quality? Did they arrive safely still in a frozen state? The quality looks good...better than what I can get here locally.

We've had the Kansas City steaks and the burgers from QVC. The steaks were very good, and the burgers were excellent. :thumbsup2

No problems with them being kept frozen.

We've been given hams from KS City Steak a few times for Christmas. They were delicious and arrived frozen.... must like the steaks I buy from Omaha Steaks.

Yes, we've ordered them several times. The quality is excellent. They do arrive frozen in a reusable cooler. The burgers are really steak burgers and very good.

Yes, we have ordered them from QVC, and yes, they are good.

However, keep this in mind......calculate the price per pound.

I just went on QVC.com and looked at the steak burgers. The price was $29.62 for a package of 20 (4 ounces each) burgers. Then, you have to add $11.22 for shipping and handling. That comes to a grand total of $40.84. You get a grand total of 5 pounds of meat for 40 bucks - that equals out to 8 dollars a pound. That is a LOT to pay for burgers.

Yes, you are also paying for the convenience of the burgers being air-tight sealed and also in patty form. But you can go to a local meat market and get just as high quality meat for much, much less. And you can specify what cuts you want ground. Heck, even my local grocery store here will do that. Look for a store that carries Angus beef. And invest in a foodsaver sealer machine and you can seal food and keep it in the freezer.

We (well.....DW) buy a LOT of stuff from QVC. A LOT! But DW has come to realize that some things on QVC are a good buy, and some things are not. Food generally is not on QVC. Always break the price down to price per pound including what you have to pay for shipping and handling.

Another example.......

I looked again on qvc.com and looked at their Kansas City Filet Mignon steaks. You get 8 (8 ounces each) Filet Mignons. That's 64 ounces - 4 pounds. The price is $161.42 plus $11.72 shipping for a total of $173.14 - for 4 pounds. Price per pound equals out to a little over $43 per pound.

That's more than DOUBLE what you would pay at a reputable meat market. And if you go to a meat market, you can have them cut your steaks any way you want - as thick as you want. Any size.

I don't know about the steaks, but I just bought some of the Temp-tations Ceramic cookware.
I love easy pay!

I understand what you are saying about the high price/pound. Thats why I originally asked the question. They'd have to be excellent in order for me to break down and order something that expensive. I have yet to find a Prime meat market in the area that we're living now. Regular store quality beef just doesn't do it for us. We're disappointed every time. We don't eat steaks often, but when we do, we'd like to be of excellent quality. Even Angus beef have varying levels of quality. I wish I lived closer to my girlfriend (4 hours away)...she has a Prime meat market near here that is soooo good. Time for a visit, I think!

I had them as a TSV once which was a good deal. They were very good.

I've had the steak burgers and they were excellent and so convienent. Last Christmas I gave a steak selection to each of my sisters, my mom and dad and my uncle.....all loved them! I'm a QVC addict {not as bad as I used to be but I still order certain products over and over again} and I've especially never had a problem with the quality of the food that I purchase. Sometimes it is a little pricy but I only order it as a special treat every now and then!

I live in Kansas City, and I've never heard of the Kansas City Steak Company. I do agree that it's hard to find high quality beef in the grocery store. Many people I know and several restaurants in Kansas City get prime beef from a local meat market called McGonigle's. Go to www.mcgonigles.com.

They do nationwide shipping and have been in business in Kansas City for several decades. You can order 6 8-oz. filets for $75. That sounds like a much better deal than the QVC company. Feel free to call McGonigle's toll-free number if you have any questions-- (888) 783-2540. The people who work there are very nice, and they know their meat! The website also provides basic cooking instructions for the different cuts of meat they send out.

From what I gather, the Kansas City Steak Company is an on-line meat market only. It doesn't say on their website exactly where they are located. They sell on-line and on qvc.

One thing I would be aware of is if you place an order for "steak burgers", it doesn't say exactly what cut of meat the steaks are made from. To me, if I want a "steak burger", I want meat from ground sirloin or ground chuck. But when you order on-line, it just says it is made from "quality beef".

Once again, you can go to any meat market or your local grocery store - if they have a fresh meat section - and ask for ground beef and have them freshly grind it from a specific cut of beef.

Maybe I am just lucky to live where I do - I can get great quality meat in a lot of places. My local grocery store even carries Buffalo - which is wonderful!!

You may try their own website, better deals on some things and less shipping charges.

Well, I'd suggest going to Omaha Steaks' website and registering for email offers. They have great sales. But I am biased! :teeth: (look under my username)
