Has anyone tried NOT linking reservations?

In October we're staying our weekend nights at OKW on cash, and it just occurred to me that we could NOT link those reservations to the weeknights before that we're staying on points. I know we risk a move if we did it that way, but if we don't link then we could do the DDP for the cash nights. There's no way that it would make sense for us to do the DDP for our entire stay.

So has anyone ever done consecutive nights, but not linked them? What was your experience? Did you end up having to move rooms? Or were you able to stay in the same room? If we had to move it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be wonderful if we were lucky enough to stay in the same room the whole time.

Did a points/cash OKW stay last January (same room type, obviously) - just told them the situation and provided all ressie numbers at check in, and it was not a problem. Hope your experience is that easy too!

Yes, you can link a cash ressie with a point ressie.

Yes, but the OP doesn't want the DDP for the entire stay, as linked ressie would two. The OP wants it as two separate reservations.

You can do this and usually not have to move but you will have to check in again and get new keys on the change day.
