Hi all....since it seems the Dis is always the place to find real answers...

Have any of you invested in MBT Masai Barefoot Technology shoes?

There's a bit on them here too Bliss, Athletics ...I have heard such fabulous things about them...but they are so highly priced, and not guarenteed, due to the fiberglass it uses...

just wondering! :flower3: Thanks!!
Robin

Kind ugly. BUt interesting.

LOL! Very, very ugly...but I"m not buying them to show off....

:rotfl: Not THIS time...

;) Just bumping to get a weekday crowd....maybe someone has tried them?

I have had them for about 8 weeks and I LOVE them. They are surprisingly comfortable, so much so that I forget that I am even wearing them. The rocking that you can do with them drives DH insane but he also says my butt, thighs, and calves have never looked more toned, my stomach has even flattened out some. I wear them for at least a 30 minute walk everyday. Most days I have them on to clean house, run errands, whatever. Takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it you will love them.
That being said they are ugly and expensive. :-)
I justifed the expense 3 ways
1) I was walking for exercise anyway so why not try and get more out of it
2) I loathe the gym so even if I joined I wouldn't go
3) I am one of those twitchy people that paces or stands alot so now I pace and rock.

I would definately purchase them again, I am even considering the sandals, those things make crocs look cute and stylish.
(I hate crocs, tried them once for 2 hours. They do something to my knees, hips, and lower back that knocks them out of whack and I just ached for the rest of the day and most of the next.)
Sorry for the croc rant hope this helps

These are the ones I have

Also I wore them 8 hours straight out of the box and the next morning my stomach and calves were so sore.

I have the sandals, and like them a lot. They are very comfortable to wear, but they work a lot of muscles in my legs that I don't normally work out, so walking in them isn't as easy as sneakers. I think over time I have been developing new muscle tone, so it's getting easier to walk long distances--I typically walk at least five miles each day.

Also, I kind of think the sandals are so ugly, they're kind of cute--does that make any sense????

I highly recommend the shoes, but I think you should give yourself a learning curve to walk long distances.

Holy cow $235!!! For sandals!!!?!! :faint:

They sound like a really interesting technology.

The sandals aren't that awful looking, but the shoes? I can't talk though, love my Crocs :)

Still anything that gets more out of exercising and all of the other things they claim it does is a great thing. Hope they work out for you! :goodvibes

I got my sandals on E-Bay for around $180. If you figure out your MBT size (they use European sizing), you can save a lot of money via EBay. Still expensive, but better.

I have the advanced MBT's and I love them. They are expensive, but then again you can't put a price tag on a firm butt!!! :thumbsup2 I wear them everyday to the gym and outisde to power walk only if the weather is nice. They are too expensive to wear them in nasty weather.
