Stayed there last year the night before our trip- got there around 10:30 at night and left by 9 am. I couldn't wait to get out. It was a DUMP. stay anywhere else!!!
I can say is Wow, we stayed at the Hampton Inn last November (2004) and it was fabulous. I am a very picky person when it comes to hotels and it was extremely clean and quiet.
One of the things I liked about the Hampton Inn (and didn't even know about until we checked in) was that you can leave your car at the Hampton Inn while you are on your cruise and use Art's Shuttle (which they even arrange for you) to get to the Port - $3 per person. No hassles to get to the Port. When they let you off they will make sure that they have all your information for the return trip and they were there waiting for us after our cruise and when we got back to the Hampton Inn they parked right at my car so we didn't have to lug our bags through the parking lot. It was fabulous and saved quite a bit of money $12 as opposed to $40 to park at the Port and don't forget all and the hassles and aggrevation you would have driving to the to the Port - it really wasn't well marked. The shuttle drivers know exactly where to go.
The Hampton is a little pricier but you do get breakfast - toaster waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, hot cereal, cold ceral, fruit, yogurt, apple, orange and cranberry juice, coffee, tea, milk etc etc. They also have free internet in the lobby.
The hotel is not right on the beach but it is a short walk (down a private walkway) to the beach - doesn't even take 5 minutes to get to there. The hotel has a nice pool but we didn't use it. The also have a guest laundry room, if you need it.
I'm willing to pay a little more when I know that I'm going to get a good night's sleep before leaving on our cruise.
We actually stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights and each night they were sold out.
