I'm looking for anyone who's had a stay on points at Wilderness, what did you think? Was it worth the extra points? How did you spend your days? We're looking to spend 12 nights, would we get bored?

Thanks!

Where do I start? The lodge is FANTASTIC!!! The pool is beautiful, and the small beach is very well kept.
It depends on your family, if you will get bored. Do you have kids, ages, etc.
My 12 and 15 yr. old boys did get bored. Not much to do at night. If WlV would have some basketball nets, or some activities for older children it would help.
BUT, I know that a lot of people go to the WLV to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax!
I LOVED THE LODGE!!! I think it is my personal favorite, but my kids rather stay at OKW, or Boardwalk for the activities.
We rented boats, and bikes and went over to the campgrounds at night to the campfire, etc.
Did I help?
I enjoyed my nights, walking, using the pool , having a beer at the hot tub and major relaxing!
I even added on to my DVC at WLV!!! I just bought a small amount of 60 points.
Hope I helped?
We took the boat over to the Magic Kingdom, and the ferry boat over to the Contemporary for dinner, etc. That was fun!
** No one crucify me, this is just my opinion, ( my 2 boys LOVE Disney)but, they did get boared at WLV. They never complained, but did say that they preffer to stay at BWV. That is what makes DVC so great, the choices of the resort that you like to stay at. As our lives change, so can our reservations!
Thanks:p

Thanks! We have two children, 3 & 6 - they do like the playground on that beach... we usually spend a couple hours over there every trip, just so we can rent the surrey bikes... but that's about the only experience we've had at Wilderness... How do you get over to Fort Wilderness to do the Campfire? We have been on the walkway, which leads to the petting zoo... once you get to the petting zoo, what do you do? We usually rent a boat, but do that at OKW, since it's less expensive for DVC members!!! How are the rates at Wilderness? Have they gone down for DVC members?

Thanks! I'm sure I'll have other questions as well!! Did you do any meals at the lodge restaurants?

EAT AT BOMA"S!!!!!!!! Make your resv. NOW!!!! It is at the new Animal Kingdom Lodge!!! You kid's will love seeing the animals close up!!! I have been going to Disney for 14 yrs and Boma's was our FAVORITE restraunt.
We walked over to the campground and then took there internal bus transportation back to the campfire. They have Disney characters, roast mrashmellow, and have a movie on a large screen everynight.
We did not care very much for the dinner at WLV, the canyon restraunt. I felt that it was pricey for what you got.(chicken, pulled poark, beans, etc) That is just my opinion! I know that a lot of people will argue that point w/ me!
PS, we also loved eating at O'Hana's! Beautiful view of the MK, and the pool. It is all cooked over a real open fire pit, etc. Very nice! They treated the kids very well!!
They have games, etc for the kid's during dinner.
Hope that I helped? :bounce:

We stayed there in March with three 15 year old girls. (My DD and two of her friends) The only time I think they were bored was the day it poured buckets of rain, and we left MGM earlier than we had planned.

While we were at VWL they spent time by the pool (WL) and on the beach. One afternoon we all rented the water mice and had a BALL boating on the lake. Since we had never stayed at BWV or OKW they just made the best of things. We brought some video tapes from home and they watched them on that rainy day. We liked VWL because it was so quiet, peaceful and relaxing there. Hope this helps.
