I was thinking if we came in the night before....on a later flight...we could stay there and then arrive OKW really early the next morning. I wonder how expensive it is?? Where do others stay if they come in late? Thanks

We stayed one night when we had an early flight out, The room was great and I believe we paid 189 before tax with the AAA rate, it could have been less. Considered it for an upcoming trip but the rate was over 300. The rates vary considerably depending on demand.
Would do it again. It was very relaxing.

We've stayed at the Marriott Fairfield Inn for $129/night, last May. Its not in the airport but really close & has a free shuttle.

Just went through this! :goodvibes

Going to WDW on 3/21. Won't get into MCO until 8:20. Didn't want to spend 100 points for a 2-BR at SSR just to sleep, so we decided to try a room at MCO. Cheapest rate was about $100 + tax. This could be because we're traveling Easter weekend, though, so I thought I should mention that. Since we'd only be getting a hotel room anyway, we got a room at All Star Movies for $145 tax & all. So, we're taking Magical Express to All Star Movies and then having Dis transport us to SSR the next day. If you're renting a car, this will save you a day off your rental, which easily makes up for the little extra we will pay staying on WDW property. If you're not renting a car, you won't have to worry about expenses to get to the hotel and then from the hotel to WDW.

Overall, it wasn't worth it to us to stay at the airport. Just my two cents! ;)

If you are talking about the Hyatt that is in the airport, then yes, we have done it three or four times now I think. It is true that it is very pricey, we have had rates ranging from $179 in 2005 to $249 this last December. I love it because the convenience can not be beat, IMO. Our flights usually come in around 10pm or so and we are beat after spending all day on a plane with two kids, so for us it is so worth it to just head up to our room. Bell services will get your luggage for you from baggage claim as well. Room service is 24 hours and the rooms are very nice and cozy. We could definitely find a room cheaper, but for us it is a nice way to start our vacation and definitely a great way to wind down after a long flight.

Oh, and you can do Magical Express the next morning if you wish, I think they just put a phony arrival flight in your arrival info.

Now that is clever!!! ;) I was trying to figure out the ME thing, as I was TICKED at MS. :headache: A CM told me I could do this when I called, and then when I called back to actually make the ME arrangements, the CM I spoke with insisted that I COULD NOT book ME unless I was flying in THAT DAY. She would not let me book and was just shy of rude. I really pushed and much to her dismay, her boss made a "one time expection that was noted in my file" because another CM had given me wrong info. In the end, we are going to take ME to All Star Movies (due to more considerations than just her attitude!!!).

Again, though...:headache:

That's irritating! I was told twice by CMs that it was totally fine, they would just put in another flight for arrival. Given your experience, I think I'd just put another arrival flight in on my own now and bypass asking permission all together.

Never considered the airport. I did a day by day reservation to get VWL for Dec 3-8. Then I decided that I'd rather fly the night before so that we have a full day available to us on Dec. 3. I made a one night reservation for 8 points at AKV for a value studio. If my waitlist comes through, that will change to a one bedroom. We have the extra points so I see no need to pay cash for a room at the airport.

See I prefer to fly in the night before.....to do the same thing. I just have to decide if it is worth splurging for another cash ressie at OKW for a 2br. so we can just stay put for the entire time. We have 7 nights now there and then switching to BCV for 6. That would give us a full two weeks at WDW. The flights down Sat. are a bit cheaper too than Sunday.

Last Oct when we were arriving late we stayed at the Hyatt for one night and took ME in the morning. We had already booked ME for a morning flight and then decided to arrive the night before. When I called ME I was told it was fine to just come in the morning. So I would dummy a flight if I was told that I couldn't arrive at night and do ME in the morning.

If you are interested in staying at the Hyatt you can prepurchase stay certificates from the Hyatt and then call and make arrangements to use it. I bought a one night choice certificate for $135. plus $6 for shipping. I should be able to use it for the one night stay including taxes. I haven't called to make a reservation with it yet, but I got the info from another thread here.

I purchased it through the gift certificates section of the Hyatt website.

We stayed at the airport Hyatt for one night prior to a DCL cruise for New Years 2006. It was a bit pricey (and the number of WORKING elevators to go up a single flight was down to ONE at 11 pm with many pieces of luggage  , but I digress), but the convenience factor was well worth it. At check-in, we just let the desk know we needed the ME to Port Canaveral the next AM and that was it! We put our luggage out that evening (with the DCL tags already attached). You just need to remember to put aside the things you'll need for the ride to PC in a carry-on before you put your things out for the Hyatt bell staff. Easy as 1-2-3! ;)
