Hi Gang

Has anyone stayed at the Gaylord Palms resort just outside of WDW? Please tell me what you thought of it.

Andy

This will probably get bumped over to the "other resorts" board, but I'll respond anyway! We stayed at the Gaylord Palms Resort last summer. My husband was working at a conference there and the kids and I tagged along to play at the parks. The resort was amazing! My kids loved playing in the atrium area--it was like being outside without the summer humidity. It was all quite upscale compared to what we are used to (we prefer Disney moderates) but since my husband's company paid, we weren't complaining;) The restaurants and shops were pretty pricey, and they charge a parking fee. The pool was a lot of fun but unmonitored by the resort--I made my kids get out a few times because I was concerned about all the rough play going on. It truly was less than 5 minutes from Disney property. I'm usually a whimp about driving around my small town, nevermind Disney property! I had no problems driving back and forth to the parks everyday (and I only got lost once!!).

Overall, I really liked it! I've told my husband that if he has to work there again, I'd be happy to keep him company :goodvibes

We stayed at Gaylord for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. The rooms are beautiful and the hotel itself is amazing. The atrium in the center is unbelievable. It couldn't have been easier to get to and from the parks (or a shorter drive). The beds were fabulous. It is a huge hotel though and easy to get lost in. There was a computer in the room with internet connection as well. So that was nice.

The only problem we had was finding things outside of the park. Especially at night, it was confusing. As is common with a lot of the hotels, you are charged a daily resort fee and daily parking fee.

We stayed there a few years ago and agree with the previous posts in this thread. However, we prefer Disney on-site hotels over the Gaylord.

We stayed at the Gaylord Palms a couple of years ago and really loved it.

The hotel is a city unto itself. The type of room you get ranges from the price you paid. We stayed in the least expensive - Florida view - which reminded me of a holiday inn. Whatever price you pay, be prepared for the madatory resort fee $15 and the parking $12.

The resort fee only gives you 2 bottles of water per day and unlimited internet. I really didn't see much value in it.

We were only there for 2 days at Christmas time, so I didn't get to experience the resort that much. I did like that you could print out your boarding pass for your airline. The restaurant was great for a nice buffet breakfast, but very expensive.

I don't have a comment about the hotel, but that baby is darling! Sorry OP for going off topic
