Has anyone stayed at the BW Stovall's?

I have been struggling over where to stay during our upcoming July trip. I am trying to do the trip on a budget, but don't want to do it to a point where the trip is ruined.

I came across a $65 rate for the BW Stovall's and am considering staying there, but it seems to have very mixed reviews. Has anyone stayed there that can give me their opinion about value and location?

BTW... I currently have Holiday inn Hotel and Suites reserved at 90 a night.

I am hoping to find a location that we can walk if we have to, but the kids prefer a shuttle. Also, a pool is a must as is WIFI.

Thanks for the help!

Nine of us stayed at Stovalls, last October and it was great.

Some of the cheaper hotel advertise a continental breakfast, but all you get are donuts. Stovall's has fruit, cereal, muffins, coffee, juice etc.

The pool is great and the location is fabulous. The shuttle comes on and off all day and costs $3.00 per person for the day, but the walk is only about 10-15min and you can cut through Downtown Disney or the Disney Hotel.

The hotel is not fancy, but it is clean, the staff are great and the price is right!

I would much rather spend my money on fun than sleeping.

We stayed at the Stovall's in May of 2006. The location is o.k. You can walk but with tired kids it is a very long walk. We cut through the Grand Californian which helps but you still have to walk past the PP and cross Harbor and then up another 1/2 block or so. The pool is cute and they have some cute topiaries around it. It is right against the major cross street though so it feels very exposed. The rooms are fine but very dated. The AC units are very loud and ours had a family of birds living in it that got us up at 5 each morning. The walls are very thin and we had loud neighbors. At 1 am I finally called the front desk and I felt so bad hearing the phone ring next door and the conversation that followed. I am not the kind of person to complain but it was just too much.

I would say that $60 is a good rate as long as the noise isn't a problem for you and you can sleep soundly through it.

I have researched this hotel myself and a thought about staying here.. but from what I understand is that you CAN walk through the GC/ DTD entrance to the parks, but not in the morning when the parks are opening so that doesn't really help us out at all seeing as we will be there bright and early. The other way to get there is a little over a mile walk (I google mapped it) so it just depends if you want to take the ART or walk. Depending on how many people are in your party those individual ART passes may add up and it may be more beneficial to stay at a hotel where you don't need to use the ART but costs a little more than Stovall's... overall you may be saving money.

We stayed there on a total last minute trip. It was super cheap, close and it wasn't too bad. It's not the GC, but then again it's not the same price. Honestly, I don't remember it being too bad at all.

Thanks for the information! I was beginning to think NO ONE stayed at the Stovall's!:rotfl2:

But we've decided to go with the Motel 6 for our budget stay. The Stovall's pool looks too exposed for us.
