Has anyone stayed at SOG & used MB??

After stumbling across this article, I was wondering if anyone here has stated at SOG & used MBs. If so, was it worth it or just a giant pain in the rear?

When I went with my mom, sister and nephew last June wanted to do MB's but it was going to be too much of a pain. You have to buy your own and then get them linked etc.

Staying at SOG and using MBs is no different than staying at any other off site hotel and using a MB. It isn't required, but you can choose to purchase your own band and use it instead of the actual ticket for park entry and fp+ in the parks.

ETA: MBs do make ride photos and videos easier if you have purchased Memory Maker.

I stayed at SOG for my honeymoon in 2014. We purchased Magic Bands in the gift shop at TTC and had our tickets linked on to them there. Yes it was rather unfortunate to fork out what I believe was around $20 per magic band at the time. But it was extremely convenient and we had our park tickets and fast passes on our Magic Bands. The only piece of valuable paper I had to worry about losing was the privilege card from SOG to allow us to utilize EMH. Overall I recommend getting the Magic Band, it makes things easier and more worry free. We are going again this Feb and plan to use the Magic Bands again.

You can no prebuy them through the app or Disneystore.com. It is very easy to link them. They do not get linked to your ticket per say but rather your My Disney Experience account. Thus anything on that account under your name would be readable, so FP+, Park Entry, Photopass/Memory maker.

You will not be able to make charges on a MB while you are an off site guest. SOG is considered off site so no charging privileges. You also can not use them to open your door.

Thank you all for the replies! We've stayed st SOG before but it was before the introduction of MB. I appreciate all of the feedback and we will definitely be considering them!
