Just saw this and was wondering what it was all about. Is it nice? Expensive? Fun? Thanks for any help!

I haven't seen the one at the Gaylord Palms, but I did go to the one at the Gaylord Resort in Nashville. I'm sure they're very similar, if not identical. I thought 'ICE' was excellent and I was truly amazed at what they were able to create. I can't remember the price, but I think it may have been between $15-20 per adult, but discounts were available through the Gaylord Resort. It took us about an hour to walk through everything. Hope that helps....

I've been to ICE! at Gaylord (Florida) for the past 2 years...It wasn't terribly expensive (although we did choose to eat in the sorta pricey steak house in the resort afterwards (by the way we were given a 10% off for the restraunt as we were leaving ICE!...only save us about $20 dollars...but it was still nice).

Both years we went on Christmas Eve and it wasn't very crowded at all...in 2004 it was a huge exhibit that we spent alot of time in taking pictures. It was AMAZING! Very cold...but amazing.

Last year, 2005...it seemed alot smaller (but not cheaper)...the ice was still incredible...there just seemed to be less of it. :( I was mostly just disappointed because I had been so taken-back by it last year and had really talked it up to my parents (who went with us in 2005)...so I was disasppointed they didn't get to see that...

They provide bright blue longish parkas for you to wear (I brought my white parka...better pictures ;)...I'm such a dork...I swear I think in terms of scrapbooking...) And it made it easier to distinguish who was who in photos.

If you go make sure to bring gloves, a scarf and a hat (even with a fur lined hood, I added a knit ski cap) and wear more than one pair of socks if you can.
I believe they have a vending machine there where you can buy socks and knit gloves...but a good pair of winter or leather or even fleece gloves seemed to keep most of my group alot warmer.

The official web site should be going up toward the middle or end of October, probably and they'll tell you prices and any special packages or events that are going on.

It's a beautiful hotel (ICE! is held in the convention center which is connected to the hotel...but nowhere near as cool) so If you do choose to go to Ice, try and have dinner there (they have a WONDERFUL buffet at Villa De Flora (you can get reservations through the main gaylord website..it's a little pricey (although not really by orlando standards) I think about $25 per adult...but it is EXCEPTIONAL!) It's also a beautiful restraunt that over looks the atrium....Even if you can't have dinner there...try to make some time to explore the atrium of the hotel...it's dividied into three sections (Everglades, St. Augustine and Key West) and is just spectacular (can you tell I really really love this hotel? lol)...If you have kids, maybe try and see the baby alligators being fed...it's alot of fun :)

My DD went to a birthday party at ICE! 2 years ago and loved it. They had slides carved into the ice that you could slide down and the girls had a blast.
