Has Anyone Seen Any DVC Improvements Since New President?

Jim Lewis was pretty awesome during our last stay at Kidani. Ignore the fact I didn't actually see him, I'm sure he was being channeled through the Cast Members.

For the first time ever, in nearly 10 years of DVC membership, I received a banking reminder email.

And what was the accuracy of your measuring device?
+/- 5 PDMs (Pixie Dust Motes)

But it does take a while to get a good reading, and you can't move the detector then.

Most definitely there has been one improvement. For over four months I have not heard Jim Lewis say, "Due to overwhelming feedback from our members and in order to enhance the membership experience ..." a phrase that was always followed by something that made me reach down for my wallet to make sure it was still there.

So true. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

When we checked in SUNDAY, September 25th -- our room was ready at 11:00 AM.

HOWEVER, we had a request to be close to the elevator, and were given a room 5 doors from the end of the hallway (Boardwalk Standard View Studio). I reluctantly asked for something closer to the elevator. It took 15 minutes, but Disney came through and said that they would change our room location, but there was not a room ready. We said that we were ok with a room that was not ready yet. We went on our way and got a call that the room was ready before we could get on the boat to Epcot.

So...

A room was ready at 11:00 AM -- (usually 3pm - 5:30 pm)
Our request was not originally met (not very unusual)
We had a new room that met our requirements in 15 minutes, and it was ready in another 15 minutes . (Very Unusual in a Good Way!!)

We decided to stay in for trash and towel day, and did not get out of the room until almost 2pm. The service was done when we got back. I mean we gave the housekeepers every chance to screw it up...but they got it right!!

BTW, the room was also in very good shape, and we were very happy with it.

On our recent stay at Jambo House, I was greeted by name from a CM as we walked up to the entrance from the short term parking area (How they managed that one, I have NO IDEA) Even wished my son a Happy Birthday, wrong kid lol, Birthday Boy was lagging behind with Dad......escorted to the registration desk and we checked in. Room was ready and it was around 11AM. Much different experience than previous stays.

I just remembered that Jim Lewis was actually fired 3 days BEFORE our trip. No wonder we had such a good experience.

I can say this for sure- when we checked in at BLT last Monday the staff was better about saying Welcome Home and was right there to check on everything- from the moment we stepped out of our car someone was there Welcoming us Home and then checking on what we needed and passing us off to the next cm to take care of it. I had never had service like that except when we stayed at the GF for our Anniversary a few years ago and we stay at BLT a couple of times a year. I have no idea if that is from the new president or guest surveys or what but it was nice.

Good to hear. Hopefully, the overall experience will improve as I have not been as happy in recent trips as I was years ago.

We were at TVGC at end of September and for the first time ever, our villa was ready before 4PM. We have often had to wait until after 4PM (once we didn't get our villa until 6PM). And today when I called MS, the CM was cheerful, courteous and had excellent diction. Who can say if this is as a result of new management, but I for one am a happier member now than I used to be.

I think it will take a bit longer than a month to realize any change. Seriously. Corporate America does not move in a heartbeat! But here's hoping (as I'm sure you are) that something nicer will happen for us DVCer's!!

What????

Based on the view on here I expected everything to be perfect now :lmao:

That said...I am at a DVC resort right now and...under the former president my points got me a villa at BCV and under the current president the villa still meets the standard.

Under the former president cast members were friendly. No change

Under the former president I got a text message when room was ready...I guess Clare does not send these. ;)

Maybe it is just me, but no real change. (of course I did not buy the Jim Lewis hate that is so popular on here anyway)

You never lived under any rule but his. It was nice before him and in his very early years. Then he became President of DVC and it all went to his head.

He was to much of a showman for me and he had a certain attitude about him. The few times that I talked to him face to face it seemed like he wasn't paying attention and he was talking to you because it was expected, not because he wanted to. Add that to the fact that many of the things that he promised never happened, he never followed up with me on a couple of items like he said he would and that he sent a mailing to the DVC Members to donate money to the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) when he became their President. I thought that was tacky.

:earsboy: Bill

How do you know it "all went to his head"?

And you know I never lived under any rule but his how????

Because I have owned since almost the beginning....

And "any rule but his":lmao: He was the president of Disney Division.. Not King of the World

The DVC Member Cruise (September 18th) was Ms. Bilby's "week two" in the new position. I think it's going to take a little longer to dig in. What I can say is there were many "Executive Committee Meet and Greets" held on the ship (one per day for at least three hours in length) and Ms. Bilby diligently went out of her way to listen to any and all who had something to say. She's doing her due diligence and I'm sure we'll see the positive effect of her leadership. I was very impressed by her.

:lmao: Yeah, he just thought he was King of the World. :lmao:

I am so glad to hear this. I have been looking for member feedback from the cruise and haven't seen much. This is good news. :thumbsup2
