O.k so we can't afford to join DVC this year:sad2:. But we are thinking of renting points. I would love to hear if anyone from Australia has done this? The most common site I keep going to is Davids vacation rentals. Another is timeshare who sell for a dollar less per point but haven't been renting points out as long they mainly deal with selling points. What to do any advice:confused3

No I haven't but I'd like to next time we go. I worked it our that renting points would have saved us a couple of thousand dollars. It wasn't worth it when we were just staying in two standard rooms but now we've upgraded to two premium view rooms, it would have been cheaper to rent and stay in the Villas. Oh well, live and learn. If you do it you have to tell us all how it went.

let us know how you go with rentals..we need to add to our dvc points for a huge family trip in '14........taking kids, grandkids + partners to wdw for 2 weeks.....god help us all:eek:

For sure. Davids website looks pretty well organised and he has good feedback. Although he is expensive at $13 a point. But I would rather be sure than sorry and think I will go through him rather than timeshare? But I will give you all feedback on my experience and if it was easy.

When I started renting my spare DVC points on the DVC rent/trade disboard a few years ago the going rate was about US$10 per point (which with the A$ so low was a very good rate for me), but the Americans I rented to seemed to know more about it than me.
More recently I have been renting to Australians at about A$10, but given the longer stays each transaction has involved significantly more points.
It is win/win transaction, the owner gets a return on their substantial investment in DVC and the renter gets much cheaper accommodation.

Good luck with your point rental.

Have you checked out the Disboard forum for DVC rentals? Dis-sers with excess points do post there for renting.

Thanks so much I will definately have a look at the Facebook link!

Just wondering if it is right that you cannot buy the dining plan (at WDW) if you are staying using DVC points? :confused3 I like the idea of staying in more spacious onsite accommodation but, for our family of five, would never want to stay onsite without being on a dining plan.

Oh no I checked this first up travel mum! You can def. get dining you just have to pay for it. But still cheaper than paying per meal. We love disney dining! Half the fun!!!!

Oh that's good! I'd be having heart failure if I was staying onsite and paying for each meal at those prices for my family! :rotfl2:
