Has anyone received media tickets?

I write for a nationally recognized although not huge blog, considering asking for a media ticket in the fall. Any advice? Do they ever give more than one ticket? I applied last year but did it too close to my trip so was rejected on that, not by the nature of my title/writing. My editor works with Disney for local ny events but not for the parks, totally separate entity. Thanks!

Many years ago my girlfriend worked for a small (very small) local cable station. She asked for tickets and got the 2 for us in at least 2 occasions. I have no idea if they have changed how they handle that, but we just had to go to guest relations (across the lagoon) and we picked up the tickets there. She simply had to fill out a request and provide credentials. She was "on-air" talent though, and that seemed to matter. However there was no pretense of doing a feature story on anything related to Disney.

Thanks, yes you don't have to do a story for disney, I guess I might as well give it a try this year we can only afford 2 park days would be fun to get a third!

It's pretty easy to get them if you work in the media in some capacity... just make sure to get your request in at least 2 weeks in advance. We're going in July but I'll send in my request in early June just to be safe.

Do you know the number of tickets they give? We would love to go for another day but may not if its just one ticket...will have to see

Hope this helps

The Public Relations courtesy ticket policy is designed for business purposes to give working journalists an opportunity to experience and cover the Walt Disney World Resort. All decisions regarding courtesy tickets are at the discretion of WDW Public Relations. The following information is meant to serve as a guideline to help media determine if they may be eligible for consideration.

All requests must be emailed to wdw.public.relations@disney.com and received at least 2 weeks prior to the media visit. A copy of your organization’s letterhead or a business card must also be included. Due to volume and our support of conservation efforts, faxes are no longer accepted.

Employment will be verified on all requests to check for full-time status and position being news/editorial. Once verification has been made an email confirmation will be sent to the requester from WDW Public Relations.
At the discretion of Walt Disney World Public Relations, limited complimentary media passes may be provided to full-time editorial and news-gathering professionals who cover entertainment, business, travel, consumer, amusement, sports, news and online media associated with a news organization or established social media entity. All media affiliations must be verifiable as to editorial content and/or masthead. Qualifying positions include the following in these news-related categories:

Print Media: *Editors, News Reporters, News Photographers, Publishers, Managing/Assignment Editors

Broadcast Media: News Producers, News Directors, News/Sports/Weather Anchors and Reporters, Managing Assignment/Planning Editors, News Writers, Videographers

Social Media and Online Media: Bloggers, Freelance Writers, Editors affiliated with established news organizations or online publications

*Editors in travel, lifestyle, entertainment, business, consumer, sports or related fields

In general, the only “director” position that qualifies for tickets is the News Director over a newsroom, not technical directors, floor directors, newscast directors, studio directors, producers/directors, etc.
Additional positions that do not qualify for Walt Disney World Public Relations courtesy tickets include sales, graphic artists, promotions, programming, technical, public relations, clerical, engineering, management, production, staff assistants, station managers, general managers and disc jockeys.
Freelance journalists must provide copies of current articles (published in the past 6 months) with the requester’s byline and publication dateline. We will also accept a letter of assignment from the editor of an established/researchable publication with the promise of receiving tear sheets after the story has been published.

When complimentary media passes are picked up at the Guest Relations Window, the journalist will be asked to provide current government issued photo ID or passport and a business card and/or drivers’ license (i.e. magazine or freelancer requests). Tickets cannot be issued without proper credentials.
Tickets are issued to and can only be picked up by the requester.
Walt Disney World Public Relations office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (ET) Monday through Friday.

Thank you Coca-Cola for providing the policy.

There is nothing that drives me crazier than people in the media trying to get freebies for personal use. It is simply unethical for a professional journalist to use their position for personal gain, end of story.

If you need access to the parks for a story, fine. If you're just going to play, then pay like everyone else.

I actually write about Disney (a family blog, it's one of the things I am in charge of covering) but wasn't going to on this short trip unless I was given tickets. Don't worry
