Has anyone pushed a double stroller with 100 lb of kids in it???

It's totally doable, I do it because we have an intense schedule and the kids need a break sometimes....I would recommend a sit and stand though with the stroller part in front for your DD and your son can sit or stand on the back. It is very difficult to get a double wide stroller maneuvered around the World. Good luck and you are not alone:)

Unfortunately a sit n stand doesn't work for us anymore. We used to have one and got rid of it. My daughter is way too tall for the front of it and her legs have nowhere to go.

I would stop by GR and ask about a stroller as a wheel chair tag for your DD.

Definitely plan to do that. We have been to Disney 3 times before with our kids so we know the ropes. I'm just having a hard time deciding if my 6 year old can do without the stroller in August. My oldest was 6 (almost 7) one time that we went and he didn't use a stroller but it was October.

I think it depends a lot on what your touring style will be. We have done both.

DDs first trip, she was 4 and we were there for 9 days in the summer, never even considered a stroller and she was fine. But we were taking our time and enjoying the experience more than racing from ride to ride. And we took long afternoon breaks.

When DS was 4, we did get a stroller because that was a much less relaxing trip- even though it was cooler temps, we did long park days with no break, and I knew he would at least need it for a nap.

Personally, I would probably opt not to push a 100 lb stroller if I didn't have to. That's going to be both heavy and bulky to work through a crowd.

This is good perspective. We generally get to the parks at rope drop, tour in the morning, have a TS meal for lunch (to get a break from the heat), and then stay another hour or so before heading back to the hotel for the afternoon. If the kids are up for it, we will head back in the evening for the parades/shows.

Since your kids are a little older, I can't remember if the Disney double would work, but I do know my 5.5 year old fit in it better than she fit in a Disney single. On that trip, I decided I could do without a stroller for her (the 5.5 year old) and we just used a single for my almost 3 year old. Near the end of the trip when we had been in the parks daily and were headed to big ol' Epcot, I rented a double that day and the 5.5 year old was able to pop in and out of it as needed. Those strollers are actually really easy to push (IMO) and wasn't too tough for the day. It was nice, really, because sometimes we were all looking to sit for a snack or drink and there weren't always benches (or enough benches) and they could sit in the stroller. I was glad to have the double on that day only and not have to wrestle it the other days (when we simply used our own single for the younger one.)

Definitely, though, we had a fairly laid-back style and had a "go at the kids' pace" mentality. If we were trying harder to rush from one thing to the next, the 5.5 year old may have wanted a stroller more often.

We definitely go at kids' pace (especially with my DD) so maybe we just won't need it. Even with a stroller, my DD gets worn out by the sensory input of it all so we can't push too hard/fast.

When we went in 2011 it was August and DD was 5 1/2. We didn't take a stroller but had a plan b to rent one in the parks if needed. Well we didn't need it at all. We did RD with midday breaks at the pool. We would then go back to the parks. We did this for 6 days and she never once complained. We weren't commando and would sit and relax if we wanted.

I would play it by ear with your 6 year old. You may not even need it.

We have a BOB and it was 90 degrees in November and we needed it. Kids were 5 and 6 and 95lbs total. Worth taking it. Have fun!

I haven't read all the replies. Yes, get the double. I have recently pushed a double with about 125 pounds and it was still fine. You said your 8 year old will need it - then she will also appreciate the extra room a double provides and the 6 year old will like to get breaks especially later in the day (and honestly, my kids HATE strollers - so they LITERALLY walk the whole time starting at age 2!!!!! But I really wish they would go in the stroller when they are 7 and younger just so I know where they are when we navigate through crowds and hand holding becomes cumbersome) ALso, make sure you prepurchase the stroller rental (even if for 2 days and add on later) because that way you will get a 15% (I think) discount. ** Just make sure you have a safe spot for the receipt :)

I am still debating on whether my youngest will need a stroller. He will just have turned 6 and I was thinking he would be fine without it but then a friend whose child is the same age told me that her daughter had a hard time because of the heat. Since we are going in August, this is definitely a factor. My middle child is 8 and has Down syndrome so she definitely will need a stroller but if I get a double stroller, it will be 100 lb worth of kids! Plus a backpack attached. Yikes! I really hate to deal with two strollers so it's either a double stroller or just get a single for my daughter.

Any input?

No way I would in that heat (or otherwise). Understandable with your dd, but 6 yr. old ds would have to use his legs!! Just take frequent breaks for all your sakes!!

We took our kids starting when my daughter was 5 - and she was absolutely fine walking all day. We went in August as well. It's crowded during the summer, and it would be tough to maneuver a double stroller with even two babies/toddlers, I can't imagine trying to do it with 100 lbs in there. I'd keep the stroller for the child who needs it, and just take plenty of breaks. You'll be fine!

We started going with my son was 2 1/2, went every other year after that. We always went in August. First year we would rent a stroller toward the end of the day if he acted like he needed it but more often that not it wasn't necessary. He hated strollers so I would have to force him to get in one even then. After that from 4 on, he never used one. I'm a single mom so we just went at his pace, if he wanted to stop for 15 min. and play in the grass, we stopped and played. If he wanted to stop and sit on a bench and look at things, we stopped. If he started getting grumpy, we went back to the room to either swim or rest then back to the parks later on.

For us, we used a stroller at WDW LONG past the time we stopped using it for anything else. We did a double (side by side) when our twins were 5, so maybe 40-45lb/each, and a single for the 2 yo. I don't regret any of it. I loved having a place to store stuff, and the kids all took impromptu naps in them. Life is easier when they kids aren't so worn out. Honestly, I'd be happy if someone pushed ME around. My feet and legs get tired too, and I'm in good shape.

I'm of the mind that WDW is easier when little legs don't have to do all that walking. We clocked 9-11 miles a day last time we were there. What's wrong with letting the younger kids ride some? The last time we used the stroller, ds was 7, and the girls were all older but in fact, his older sisters all took turns riding it, too.

Yes...well kinda we had a triple stroller with 3 kids 4 and under. This fall we will only have a double for the first time in a long time!

My kids are only 2 & (will be) 4, and the thought of a sit and stand at WDW made me cringe.

Since mine are still stroller age at home anyway, I got a Britax side by side on Craigslist for the same amount I would have spent on a rental. I think doing that and reselling after is a pretty good idea for big kids.

You know your children best. I have a lively, energetic 7yo who can run circles around me! That being said, when she's done, she's done. I have lost track of the number of times during fireworks she has layed down in her stroller and fallen fast asleep, gone for the night even when loading, unloading from busses. We like long full days so to accommodate that I rent a City Mini and will again this year even though she will be 7 1/2.

Last year my Fitbit averaged 18,000+ steps a day during our WDW trip. That's a lot of steps for most.
