Has anyone price bridged recently?

You CAN upgrade the tickets.

The difference is that if there is a PRICE INCREASE between
the time that you originally bought the tickets and the time that you upgrade,
you must pay for the upgrade (of course)
AND add-on the cost of the difference between what you originally paid for the tickets
and their new, current-day price.
Ya, I know if there is a price increase I will have to pay the difference. Thanks Robo. I got nervous for just a moment. Wonder why Disney has not developed the ability to upgrade tickets like mine through your MDE? Seems like they would.

Thanks for the clarification about entry - I thought that it was easier for them to price bridge once you'd entered a park.

It has either changed in the last few years OR cheshire_figment, our now late previous ticketing expert had the info wrong. I believe the former.

Nope, there have been the same issues reported at every GR/ticket window at Disney.

Yep.

One of the biggest issues involving bridging I ever read if here happened at AK only a week or two after I had a perfect bridging experience at the same location. (Her issue was worked out...undercover tourist got involved, there was cm retraining, etc, because the cm was so wrong)

THIS.
And, this is why I asked about the specifics of your ticket purchase.

The CM was CORRECT, and he DID do you a favor ("Pixie Dust") and it IS a "one time only" deal that he made for you.

AND...
This is also why it can actually be a poor decision to buy stand-alone tickets directly from Disney,
either in-person at the parks, or by mail, or by phone, or on-line,
if there is a possibility that you will want to upgrade them in the future.
Not only do you pay full price (no discounts,) but in cases of price increases, you don't get the "price bridging" operation.

Thanks, Robo! This is great information to have!

So, I have a 7 day PH ticket purchased from UT. If I want to upgrade it to an AP, do I pay the difference between what I paid and the current price of an AP? Or do I pay the difference between the (then) current price of the current 7 day PH at the gate and the price of the AP?

Does this work with tickets that are given out as 'reward' tickets? Or do they have to be used 'as is'?

And I do not have to use the ticket first, is that right? But what about if I want to upgrade to an AP after I have used the pass for 2 - 3 days? Would you get full value or the value of 4 day ticket?

7. Would you get full value or the value of 4 day ticket?

1. That is a "discounted ticket." (Good!)
2. No.
3. Yes. (The difference between those prices on the day that you decide to upgrade.)
4. No.
5. Yup.
6. Right.
7. Sure! Because... an UPGRADE makes it as though
the ticket to which you upgraded had been the ticket that you started with.
So... Your AP would be back-dated to START on the date that you first used the original ticket.
Under those circumstances, you'd get the full value of the ticket... as though you had upgraded
on that first day.

1. No

2. Yes

3. Those kind of tickets often can't be upgraded.

4. Correct.

5. Full value of a 7 day ticket.

You're welcome!
There are several posters on the DIS who have extensive ticket knowledge.
Many of them have been answering in force today!

Thanks everyone!

I didn't realize that it was for only the tickets that were bought from UT, etc. That is good to know going forward.

I'm glad for the pixie dust then.

If we no longer have to use the tickets once before bridging, is there a reason that we can't call WDW now and add our extra days before a price increase? I am guessing the answer is no but want to make sure...

The reason is, Disney says that you must do the upgrades in-person at WDW.

I'm trying to keep these statements as clear as possible, as many readers will see these posts, now and in the future.

1. Price-bridging is not just for tickets bought from authorized ticket resellers/discounters.
Price-bridging is also done for tickets that are purchased from Disney as part of a WDW Resort package.
And, it is done for tickets purchased at a Disney Store in malls, etc.

But, price-bridging is NOT done for tickets bought directly from Disney at WDW gates and ticket booths, Guest Relations, or WDW resort lobby concierge.
Nor for tickets ordered from Disney by mail, phone or on-line.

2. Yup. You were lucky!
