Has anyone ordered the free DVD guide disney offers on thier website? Is it helpful in planning? Does it come with anything else besides the DVD? Like maybe maps?

I got it and the only thing that it came with was the actual DVD. It didn't do a lot for me in the form of planning, but it was a rather good "convincing tool" to use with DH. My 4yo loves to watch the DVD over and over again to see Disney on it.

I ordered it for my 4 year old - I know he'll love watching it. I don't expect it to be at all useful, lol.

I agree!! I ordered it and didn't really find it helpful. I was hoping it would give me some good info since this trip is our first. But my 2 and 4 yr old love to watch it!!

Yes, I ordered it as well more for a keepsake and to get the kids excited. I'm a beginning "Disneyphile" with just one trip under my belt, so it'll go into an eventual trunk filled with Disney keepsakes for the grandkids! LOL (I'm only 30 and my kids are just 4 and 6!)

My son loves it too (4 yo), you can order customized maps on the website (once every 6 months I believe) and they are nice 11x17 size, heavyweight, nice keepsake!

I got the dvd and you can request personalized free maps. My Dh thought that was REALLY cool. They have our name on them and everything!

We order a new one every year... they're a fun, easy and quick way to get a "fix"... and not just the kids, either!

We received the DVD in February to help us with our first trip back to WDW as a family (going to POP at end of April). DD(5) loves a part of the DVD that is titled "For Kids By Kids"... they give a group of 6 kids (look like young teens) a couple of cameras, phones, and gift cards and sent them throughout the 4 theme parks, DTD, and they even show them partaking in some of the extra stuff like para sailing and water skiing.

I don't think the DVD goes into enough detail for the resorts... just a couple of minutes per resort. Overall, the DVD did not help much in planning our vacation, but did help sell the DW

In all, I would say go ahead and order the DVD. It took about 3 weeks to receive it. And stopher1 couldn't have said it better...

One more thing... Be prepared to see/hear this DVD every day for the first few weeks after you get it! It's all my DD wanted to see on TV every day I got home from work

Okay, this is where it shows that I am a freak- I order one of these every year. Truth be told, they aren't all that helpful, because I stay off-site, and it's mostly about planning a stay on-site. But just watching the dvd makes me feel all happy and giddy inside- knowing that I will soon be going, or at least planning another trip.

The maps are free, you just have to sign into the Disneyworld.com website and register. From there, you can create your itinerary, choose your favorites for each park, and order customized maps. They are nice maps, I ordered them last year. Too nice to actually take to the parks, but a great keepsake.
