Has anyone made a headboard?

I've looked at several examples on HGTV's web site. I'd like to give it a try. If you've made one, was it difficult? Were you happy with the results?

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thought about it. Made plans. Bought a couple of headboards from the thrift that didn't work. . .

DH finally stepped in and hey presto, I'm getting a brand new bed with the "fun" money from our next tax refund.

So yes, it works to at least plan to make your own headboard.

http://www.knock-offwood.com/ has neat and simple plans to use. I have made my own and it was kinda a pain in the butt but mine was huge (8 feet long and 4 ft high dont ask). In the end I was thrilled.

I took two singles and did a little cutting/carving and made a full size head board out of them. Wasn't hard, but I'm pretty handy with stuff like that. I say as long as you keep it simple it should be easy enough.
