I fly out of DTW quite a few times a year and I find that using the off site parking lots is a lot quicker and cheaper in the long run than parking at the airport itself. I love QWIKPARK on Merriman road, just North of I 94. They pick you up at your car, transfer your luggage to the shuttle (TIP) and then take it off once you get to your terminal. I never have had to wait longer than 5 mintues for a shuttle back to my car on my return. They are very effiecient.
If you go to their website, www.qwikpark.com and follow the link at the bottom of their home page, you can even print coupons for free parking.
You will be leaving from the old SMITH terminal if you are on Spirit, so do NOT park at the new NWA terminal!!!
There's 3 major companies competing for your offsite parking dollar ... Qwik Park was already mentioned, US Park (on Middlebelt) and Airlines Parking (on Merriman) both offer similar services, at similar prices. There's a few other services, but I'd go with one of the "Big 3" (personally, I tend to use Airlines parking, but I've used US Park on occasion too.) Both also offer AAA discounts, if you're a member. (have your card with you)
I've been checking on this too. Most likely the 3 services listed. Most of them offer a free day or discounted rates (AAA). I figured it was gonna cost about $42.00 for my 7 day stay. They were offering pay $7.00/day, get 7th day free.
