I went with a friend last year to Myrtle Beach, and we are registering today for November in the same location. If you have never been to a crop, you are starting out with the granddaddy of them all. It was really lots of fun. The great part of it for us was the 24 hour a day cropping and never having to move our stuff. We could just drop in and out whenever we wanted to. But if you're only a short distance away, you will probably just do the daily thing, and I think that you have to remove your stuff when you leave if you aren't signed up for the whole thing.
But it was a real blast - makes you realize that scrapping is a subculture all its own. People came in groups with banners, big signs with the name of their group. They have a pajama party one night. And the amount of die cuts that you can make yourself is amazing. Lots of alphabets and also other designs (especially borders) that were really neat. My big advice if you decide to go to an overnight one (staying in the hotel) is to go the night before. We had a 3 hour drive and by the time we got there, checked in and got our stuff settled at the table, it was 1:00 and we had lost half a day. I also think the classes are pretty expensive for what you get. We can do much better at our local scrapbook store.
Hope you get to go. I would (and will) do it again in a minute.
