Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone on the Canadian boards has purchased anything via Disneydirect.com?

I have seen a couple of items that I would like to buy for Xmas gifts.
The items total $30.00 but the shipping is $33.00 :faint:

I was wondering if we get hit with taxes when the items are delivered. :confused3

If anyone knows, please respond. The items I am looking at are on offer only until Oct 30th

(I just wish Disney would extend the free shipping offer to Canada, after all , we are neighbours ::yes:: AND We LOVE Disney  )

Thanks All,

HEY, TAG FAIRY, you haven't "Caught" me yet!!!!! ;)

I buy, but then I have it sent to my in-laws in St. Petes who in turn mail it to us or we wait til we go to get it from them. Do you have anyone in the States that you can have it shipped to, then they can send it to you?

M.

You will probably have to pay a brokerage fee as well. If the item is sent via Mail, the fee is only $5. If it is sent via Courier, the fee is usually higher (UPS charges about $25 minimum brokerage fee I believe).

I just paid for my DHL brokerage this month. The bill came in almost 2 months after I had the items and it was another....$35 :faint: UGH!!!

Hi Marilynn,

I wish I did have someone stateside to receive packages for me :sad2:

A couple of my relatives (who used to go down for 6months every winter) have now sold their mobile homes and rent instead, but they ususally go down for Jan - Mar. So, it means I don't have a "permanent address" to send anything to

OT - Glad to see that you're still hanging in there :flower3:

I also find it so ridiculously expensive to try to get anything from there shipped here. The brokerage fees to "handle" the duty & customs on your package are as crazy as the shipping fees. Not worth it.

I ship to an "amerifriend" when can or ship to a WDW resort directly if we're about to be there.

Debbie and Pokemom,

The "brokerage" fee is robbery.
What do they have to do that is different than going through the mail to warrant those extra $? :confused3

That would mean that the total cost for $30 of items could be $88.00+ :scared1:

It wouldn't be worth it. :(

CdnMom2, I would love to be able to ship to WDW to save all these fee's but I'm not going until Feb 06, I don't think that the resort would hold it that long

I guess I'll just wait until we go and shop when we get there.

Too Bad..... one of the NBC tops I wanted to get for my son is usually $29.99 and I could get it for $11.69 (Great deal!!!!)

Thanks for all your responses :flower:

TAG FAIRY....... I'm still waiting for you to "catch" me!!!!!!
You'd make my day!!!

I bought from them about 2 years ago. The shipping was outrageous as were the brokerage fees. They usually use DHL courier and as another poster was saying, the brokerage fees come a few months after you get the items. On top of that, I ordered a pair of mohair Mickey and Minnie teddy bears and received a child's cinderella play castle instead??? When I called them, they apologized, told me to keep the castle (it was huge with lots of pieces) and sent me the right items.
The only way it might? be worth it is if you order lots of stuff and then they can ship multiple items for one price.
You would think that since Canadians make up a large part of their tourism, they would try and do something for us when it comes to shipping. They would make a lot of dough off of us.
I was looking the other day and wanted to buy a pin for $4.99 - the shipping was $24.00 - um, I don't think so! :earseek:

I have tried adding up enough sale items to make the shipping worthwhile but depending on what you buy they keep jacking it up higher. I never actually end up taking the plunge.

Same Here, I ended up NOT buying, as everytime I tried to add a small item (such as a Christmas ornament (not much weight) at a good sale price to make the shipping cost worthwhile it pushed the shipping cost up.

I'll save my $ for when I am back in Florida.
