Has anyone heard of a Marvel hero named Hyperion?

On Marvel Strike Force I saw that they added Hyperion to the list of Marvel heroes and I want to know more about him? I had never ever heard of Hyperion until he debuted on Marvel Strike Force and I thought he looked cool with his sunglasses? Is Hyperion one of The Thunderbolts and how did he get his start?

Hyperion is a member of the "Squadron Supreme" which were heroes from another dimension. They are basically versions of DC Comics characters - a stand in for the Justice League, which of course Marvel can't use. So, Hyperion is their Superman (Nighthawk was Batman, Sr. Spectrum was Green Lantern....). Due to the nature of the multiverse, tehre may be a few versionos of Hyperion around - it get's a little complicated with those characters. Since they are pastiches of the competition, sometimes they are portrayed in an unflattering light, though that has varied over time.

He has never been one of the Thunderbolts that I know of, but has been on the Avengers proper at times. The sunglasses thing may be new for the game, because I can't recall him ever wearing them - unless it was recent as I don't folow Marvel comics too much anymore.

When I first saw Hyperion I knew he was cute and he looked awesome and so it led me to find out more about him and I even found a Hyperion action figure as well. What's Hyperion's name and when was he first seen in Marvel comics?
Thank you very much for the info Brian

Hyperion first appeared in Avengers #69, October 1969, though that was the villainous first version. He was created by Roy Thomas and Sal Buscema. Since he is from the multiverse, he has a few "real names", but the notably heroic version is named Mark Milton (which is sort of a take on Clark Kent).

Also, a fun note on the name Hyperion, while derived from one of the ancient Greek Titans of myth, there is a Disney connection. The original Walt Disney Studio location was on Hyperion Ave. in Los Angeles. The Walt Disney Company uses the name ferequently as a reference to that location, like the Hyperion Theater at California Adventure or the Hyperion animation render engeine, the proprietary tech behind Disney's animated films. You might see the name dropped in many places. Of course, the name of the Marvel character was unrelated to the Disney connection, but now they own the character too.
