Has anyone heard from the DTD Holiday Inn yet?

So now they are taking reservations for check ins as early as Feb 7th. Has anyone heard anything else about the opening? Are they doing a soft opening beforehand or something? A little nervous about checking in on Feb 15th

I'm with you on this, Cheryl. My family intends on booking with HI for check-in on Saturday, February 20.

My own personal online research reveals several dates for the supposed official opening of the hotel. Their official website (http://www.hiorlando.com/) says "Opening February 2010". The Downtown Disney Hotels website (http://www.downtowndisneyhotels.com/Hotels/HolidayInn/) says "Opening February 7, 2010". The main Holiday Inn website (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/dislb) says "Book for 2/15/2010 arrival".

I called the reservation number associated with HI, which was the "IC Hotels Group", and I asked about possible delays of the opening date. The representative I spoke with told me there was no 100% guarantee that it would open on time, but he seemed sure that things were "on schedule" to open at the projected date. But WHICH projected date??

I'm going to try to speak to an on-site official before I make my reservations...

I emailed the Sales Manager for the Holiday Inn DTD, Christine Burns. I communicated my concerns about reserving there because of the possibility of a delay in their opening.

She replied with one sentence: "Our scheduled Grand Opening is for February 15, 2010."

This doesn't mention any kind of soft opening or review stay, which is alluded to in the hotel's voicemail recording that plays when you call their local number.

So, I guess it's safe to assume things are a go for February 15th!

This is great news after a lot of starts and stops and several years of that property being shut down. A welcome addition to the Downtown Disney hotel area.
