Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom

Looks like it might fun. Maybe while sitting by the pool at one of the resorts.

I read it. It's okay, kind of odd. Basically, it's set in the future, and a bunch of people have "taken over Disney World", and there are fights between the "purists" and the "new breed" who want to change the attractions. As I recall, the battle is over changing the Haunted Mansion.

Serious Disney fans will probably find lots of things wrong with it, but it seemed like pretty mindless entertainment to me. You'll probably enjoy is as a pool book.

I've read it and I liked it. It takes place in the future when the world is so over-crowded that there are people who actually live in the Magic Kingdom. Various groups cover the different "lands."

The main character is part of the group that controls Liberty Square. They are purists who are trying to preserve the oiginal feel of the park. They are fighting to fend off a coup by the AdventureLand group.

The MK is basically a backdrop for the more political aspects of the story, but the author (Corey Doctorow) Is definitely a Disney fan.

There is also a big Sci-Fi/technology theme in the story.

I would say it was really worth reading.
