Has anyone had problems with card purchases such as buying park tickets?

Hey everybody

There seems to be mixed stories of foreigners having issues buying park tickets such as dpa. I'm wondering what would be my best strategy to minimize as much stress and avoiding potential issues..I'll be going in October and will be in charge of planning and organizing everything. I'll also be staying at hilton tokyo bay, which I see no longer offers guaranteed entry. Not sure if can still buy park tickets through them at arrival..? Although I'd rather have them before.

Seems like my options are - buy them through disney app, official tokyo website, and klook. About how much time did yall buy your separate tickets before arrival? Like 2 weeks before?

if through klook, does everyone in my party need the disney app to scan each ticket individually to their account? Or can I buy them all on my end and add them in my disney app? How would i add them to disney app? It looks like if going this route, there may be potential issues of trying to buy dpa once entering park...the main thing I'm trying to avoid

If through disney app, I can buy everyone's and they'll scan each at park? Seems this would be less headache..I just worry if my CSP card won't be accepted. I do have AMEX for backup. Which cards did yall use and did yall have problems buying dpas afterwards using same card and this method?

If through website, same question as above.

If yall had issues with dpa how did you resolve it?

I'm guessing people who used vacation packages did not come across this issue as well as tokyo disney hotel guests..

Please share any recent data points. Many thanks!!

Japanese websites including the Tokyo Disney website can have issues with non-Japanese credit cards due to how intermediaries in Japan send the data to payment processors. For a long while, Visa cards were largely being rejected but lately, things have gotten better. That being said, these days I usually just buy my tickets through Klook for the points and I usually don't buy until the evening before or the morning of my visit because I may change my plans based on weather.

You can scan all the QR codes on the tickets from Klook into one person's app before going to the park. I usually just send a screenshot of the code to other people in my party so they can scan in to the park with their phone themselves.

I've never had issues purchasing things like DPA in the app with any of my Chase cards although Chase sometimes does want SMS verification for fraud prevention. Same with Capital One, Wells Fargo and Amex. US Bank is the only one that I couldn't get to work.

That's good to know Chase cards are working. I ended up getting an Old Navy Mastercard through Barclays a couple years ago, mostly for TDL purchases.

Thank you for your reply! I have never used klook so this is a first for me and just hear it is an easy method. I will probably print too incase.

We had mixed results on the TDR website booking rooms/vac packages. One reservation, one of the Chase cards was refused, so we tried another and it went through. The next time the original Chase card was fine. We did not purchase tickets separately.....

There didn't seem to be a specific reason. Just be prepared to have an alternate, if needed. Or go with the recommendations above!
