I found a few ideas on a bday party website for a cooking party but I'm having trouble finding the right supplies. I am looking for:

-Child Size aprons

-Chef hats (like the kind the kids get at the Epcot Nestle cookie event)

-Mini wooden spoons or rolling pins (for the invites)

-Colored Cookie Dough

-Any other ideas for goody bag items

Any help is appreciated! TIA :flower:

I saw some small rolling pins in the dollar spot at Target this afternoon.
There were also some sets of 4 cookie cutters which might be a cute goody bag item...you could give the whole set or split it between different kids.

I saw some aprons somewhere today too but I can't remember for the life of me where! I'll keep thinking...

Have you tried a party store? They may have what you need. As for the colored cookie dough, Pillsbury sells the Sugar Cookie dough in a tub at places like BJ's or Sam's clubs. Add a few drops of food coloring and knead until the desired color. (I would wear clear plastic gloves for this) ;)
Or you could just make up the frosting in different colors and just let them make sugar cut outs.
Have fun~I hope your kitchen survives the party! LOL :rotfl:

What size kids aprons did you need and around how much did you have in mind for each one?

For the aprons try a HOLCOMBS type teacher's store. They have them for messy art projects (They are thin white plastic that tie around the waist). The rolling pins etc try a craft store. I know they have them for craft projects. It sounds like a great party!! Have fun!!!

Walmart had some aprons in their craft section (for decorating) that were just plain, off white. They are not that big and could be used for kids. Personally I would skip the hats. Many kids don't like to wear them and they are just going to fall off when they are making what ever. I would also skip the colored cookie dough and just make different colored frosting for some sugar cookies.

Thanks for the replies :)

I saw those hats on the family fun site, they are cute, but I found some on ebay that you can color and they have a restaurant theme, so I think I'll get those. It gives the kids something to do when they arrive and if they don't wear them, it's okay.

I think I'm going to skip the aprons and just do one apron that the kids will sign for DS at the end of the party.

I'm trying to keep the expense minimal (like $50 or less!). Let's see if I can do it! I'm usually one to go wayyy overboard with the parties and usually pay $250-300 to have it somewhere but that's just silly I've realized.

I wanted to do the colored cookie dough so I didn't have to do frosting. I know it's a cooking party, but the less mess the better! I think I might just get a big tub at BJ's or Sams like someone said and put food coloring in it. I've seen the colored cookie dough for fundraisers, but of course his school didn't do that one this year. I had an idea for the bday cake though. I thought I could just make cupcakes, do the candle thing and then each child would get a plain frosted cupcake and could add their own toppings (jellybeans, m&m's and that kind of stuff).

As for goodie bags. I persued my closet and realized I have a TON of party favor items that I got at Target for 70-90% off. I figured I could make goodie bags for around a dollar each that would include a cannister of legos or a flashlight (princess or power rangers), a lexan water bottle with their name on it and a tub of play doh. Is that dumb that it doesn't really match the party theme? I could pick up some of the cookie cutters and throw those in, but I wonder if the kids would actually use them KWIM?
