Has anyone gotten a postcard?

Last year at this time many postcards were sent out that offered deals on room only bookings. This worked out great for our wedding guests. We got GF for $245 a night, Boardwalk for $220 a night, POR for $70 something, and POP for $50 something.

I booked my Sepember trip with an AP just so I could get a lower room rate at the GF, but the AP rate isn't even coming close to the $245 that was offered last year with the post card. I am just wondering if anyone thinks there may be a pin # or postcard coming out for stays in September, or if the MYW dinning is the only "special" that is happening at that time and there for no room discounts will be available? (And unfortunately I had to choose between having an AP and free dinning, and am choosing the AP)

I was wondering if these postcard/email codes were still happening myself...

Dec '04 I had a code next to my name when I booked so I got a mod for like $79. Dec '03 we received a postcard and got a mod for the same deal.

Any word on these postcards or emails? I would love to go Dec '05 but with being spoiled with codes, I can't see myself booking without one. :confused3

I'm waiting for some kind of discount too. We are staying at BWV using someone's points but wanted to stay at another hotel for the first 2 nights. I have always gone on a discount code and really don't want to pay rack rate. I don't think we are going to have much luck at this point.

I think mine arrived ($49 for value) last July or August - can't remember which month for sure..

I think we'll just have to wait and see what - if any - discounts come out other than the Best Rate Program.. If nothing becomes available, I'll just go with a condo offsite.. :flower:

We recieved a postcard a few weeks ago for the free dining package with a pin code on it we never use them so I ust tossed it out.

Has anyone without children ever gotten a post card or PIN? Do the children's ages, having a big or small family or being a smoker vs a non smoker, make a difference?

Just trying to find some method to the madness for determining who gets post cards.

No children living at home and it was just my DH & I living in the house when I received the post card last year.. :flower:

I also received the emial for the free dining pkg. before most people were aware of it.. Never even opened the email until someone else mentioned they had received it..

"Children" in the house were 17+ when we first noticed we were receiving special codes (received 2 within the last 2 years)

Ir probably is just completely random. ?

if you go to www.magicalmemoriestravel.com you will find info on how to get on the mailing list for codes... i believe it is in the discounts section... oh, and they are great travel agents too! :)

The mailing list talked about here is Focalex. I did sign up for this, checking only 2 boxes under the travel section for info. Ended up with a TON of spam in my inbox, not relating to travel at all. I unsubscribed a few weeks ago and have noticed a dramatic drop in the amount of spam I'm receiving.

BTW-just like to add this has nothing to do with the above travel agency, they are just passing along the information that they've received. I've never used them, so I have no opinion on them one way or another.

the reason i posted the TA's site rather than just www.focalex.com is because the TA gives specific info on how to get on the list for wdw mailings and NOT get a ton of spam! i have had no problem w/add'l spam by following their instructions :)

I just got an email, first one I ever remember getting. It offered me a value for $99 plus tax and up for the dates of 10/5/05 to 11/26/05.

I am not impressed. I remember when I might have been though. I am hoping for something better and have a feeling it will come.

JMO, but if rooms remain empty at certain times Disney is smart enough to know that something is better than nothing and I am hard pressed to think, even with the better economy, that every room will be full every night. We are retired and are able to travel on the spur of the moment most of the time. I am going to wait it out and let the fates decide where and when.

Ordered the Disney video planner, and listed my trip as over Christmas week (which is true). Got an e-mail saying that they were sending my video and that I should start planning - with a rate of $ 119. for values during that time. Is this a realistic "e-mail rate", or is it just rack with some nice window-dressing?

I haven't quite figured out how Disney determines who gets codes and who doesn't.

I have been to Disney with my family several times as a child and even got married there, I even signed up to be on the mailing list and they even have my e-mail address. I in turn(nor my parents) have ever recieved a postcard or a special deal.

Now my grandmother who is 75 and has never gone to Disney has received a postcard with a pin # on it. This is what she used to come to our wedding.

Also, My friend who is married, hads one child (18 months), and has been to Disney before also got a postcard code.

I think one of our other guests who has never been to Disney, also got a code as well.

I think if you call to get info and say you have never been to Disney before, they start sending you stuff to get you there. JMO.

P.S to the poster who got a card for a value at $119.......
I wouldn't pay more than $100 to stay at a value!
