Hi All

The good lady has finally managed to swap, beg and steal a multitude of shifts to get us to the US this year. We have now got final dates, we are leaving for NY on the morning of 30th July, where will will spend 8 days and then arrive at Disney for 21 nights in the cabins arriving home (suitably depressed) on 29th August.

This will be our longest (but in my eyes, not long enough) trip to date and cant bloody wait if I am honest.

There are 6 of us going this time round, Beth's friend, Courtney, who will be 15 while we are at Disney, is joing us and has never been to the US before. We are staying in the cabins with the tickets and meals in with the price of approx £1000 each (which I though was pretty good for 21 nights, food and tickets). The LA part of the journey we had planned is just going to be too much travelling and I dont want to spoil it.

I am trying to find a hotel in New York that will take 6 of us, they do advertise suites, but even those only seem to take 4 or 5. We can hire an appartment for around £1700.00 for 8 nights that sleeps 6, Which brings me to my question.

Has anyone got an apartment or ever used one in NY that would be available? I am quite prepared to part with hard cash (ignore this please HMRC)

Ok, off to do some more searching for hotels and find a way of paying for it somehow............. Where are those fishnets and high heels.:rotfl2:

Speak soon

Steve

Your trip sounds amazing, wish we could do a trip for that long!

I just googled hotels in new York for large families and came a few sites came back with listings of lots that accommodate large families of 6, 7, 8......

This is just one of the links:

Good luck, I hope you find something suitable! :)

Hi Lisa

Thats great, thank you. I have already checked some of these, but one on there is for the Eastgate Towers, coming in at around £1300.00 for the 6 of us for the 8 nights.

Looks like a go'er.

Where are you staying in June?

Thanks

Steve

Ah fab, glad you've found something you like the look of, sounds good! :)

We're staying at AKL for 2 weeks but we have also booked a couple of nights at Bay Lake Towers in the middle of our two weeks with a Magic Kingdom view! Can't wait! Never stayed onsite before, we usually stay at Hard Rock Hotel but decided to take the plunge and buy into DVC last year!

Looks like ther Eastgate Towers is favorite, £1200.00 for the lot of us in a 6 person suite. Thanks again.

Never stayed at AKL, but always stayed on site, there is something special about it. we stayed at All Star Movies in 02, our first trip we only had the girls. 07 at Riverside as we had Josh by then and they do 5 person rooms, and then again in 09 Riverside all for 3 weeks.

Each time we go, my wife says it will prob be our last and we have been on some wonderful non Disney holidays, but it always calls us back for one more trip.

I seriously cannot wait, I would not be more excited if I were a 8 year old on Christmas Eve.

Think we are going to have a drive down to the Keys too for a couple of days when we are in Orlando. And I am booking a limo from JFK into Manhatten as a surprise when we get there.

Fantastic.

How good is the DVC? we keep glancing at it but cant decide, but what we spend a year on our hols I am certain we would save somewhere

Steve

Sounds like you've got some lovely treats set up, what a way to start the trip with a limo into NYC, we did that one year and it was fab and to be honest, didn't cost us too much more than if we had hired a couple of taxis! That was years ago though!

Haha sounds familiar, we always used to say we would give WDW a miss 'next year' and try other places but as soon as we get back, on the Internet we go to look for our next trip! It's addictive! That's why we went for DVC, we will definitely get our money's worth!

To be honest, we're brand new to DVC and this will be our first time using it so honestly, I can't say too much about it just yet but we worked out that with the hotels we like to stay in, with the 350 points per year we have bought, it will have paid for itself in 5 to 7 years max and we have 50 years of use more or less! Was a no brainier for us really but I know it doesn't work for everyone! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to stay onsite, sounds like you've had some amazing holidays! Hope you enjoy the keys, its one of the places we are yet to visit in Florida but thinking about it in October paired with an Allure of the Seas cruise! :)
