Has Anyone Gone Zip Lining?

DH and I and two other couples are going on a cruise in January and one of the excursions in Jamaica is "The Original Canopy Tour" (zip lining) and we are seriously considering it, and wondering if anyone here has done it?

Where did you do it? What were the pros and cons? Did you like it?
Would you do it again?

I'm not afraid of heights so the actual zip lining doesn't scare me (much )
but there are two "straight down" parts that I'm a little concerned about.

Would just like to get opinions from those here who have done it.

It really is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't suggest it at all if you are afraid of hieghts. Often when you go over the canopy you can be 100-200 feet from the ground.

I would definitely do it again, but I find many other things to be more enjoyable, such as riding a jetski.

"Straight down" parts? Maybe they explained it wrong. Extreme angle is probably more like it.

If have been on a suspended coaster like Dueling Dragons at IOA, it isn't that much different. The ones for tourists strap you in so much, it basically becomes a one line coaster.

I did ask about it at cruise critic and found out quite a bit about it from one person, but wanted to ask here and see if anyone had done it, just to get more information and opinions.

As for the "straight down", that's what she said. You basically just step off the platform and go straight down. That is what bothers me. I don't like roller coasters with big dips and she said the sensation in your stomach going straight down on the zip line is like the sensation of the roller coaster.

I'm going to be a "big girl" and do it though since everyone else in our group wants to. I'm sure I will be proud of myself after it's over, and for the most part I'm quite confident I'll enjoy it.

I did it in Belize and would love to do it again. I pictured ropes tied to trees and such...lol. It was VERY professional and not scary at all. I kinda wish it was a little more of an adventure. The repels down were a little scary just because I didn't know what to expect...but a great thrill. When I was in Belize, the lady from Jamaica was there and she was a wonderful person. I would even take my DD10 and DS12 on it....but last time we went to Belize it was a large group that also included my DS5 and DS3 so we opted for snorkeling and swimming with sharks and stingrays.

Anyway...sorry to be so long winded. It was an incredible time and I would do it again.

I was just trying to help. Straight down sounds more like repelling, which may be part of the same deal, but also may be them using a confusing term for going down a line that is over 45 degrees.

I obviously don't know the specifics but I do doubt there would be many areas that would freak you out. A zip line tour that included a lot of dips would be a very short one. Usually they have you going down a decline angled just enough to keep you going forward without having to push yourself. Otherwise it isn't worth the experience or it would freak people out.

My coaster reference was only to make you feel safe. Lots of restraints, not going to fall out. Probably not a lot of dips, and certainly not that kind of speed.

I went zip lining in Israel and it was AMAZING. I hate the "dropping" sensation on roller coasters and I did not AT ALL feel that way on the zip line...
