Has anyone flown into Tampa and driven to Disney?

I can get a flight from SW to Tampa for $49 one way with a Ding! now or try to wait it out for something into Orlando later. The regular fares are selling out at the times I want and I'm getting nervous for our September trip. How far would the drive be and how is the car rental service there?
