Has anyone flown in a Dehavilland Dash? Or...

any of these others? For the first leg of our trip we'll be in a 737, in which I've flown often. The second leg is in a 767 - how big is that? Then on our return trip we start in an A319 - what on earth??? - and finish up with the Dash. I know it's a small commuter plane, but just how small?

I am quite nervous about flying now, a shame because I have always enjoyed it tremendously in the 737's. Can anyone reassure - or at least enlighten - me about the others? Thanks a lot!

The 767 seats around 200+, it's a widebody with a 2-3-2 seating in coach. I usually fly those from coast-to-coast. The A319 is just like a 737, but nicer. ;) The Dash probably seats 30+ depending on the model. Which airline are you flying? (I'm guessing either United or US Airways)

The Dash is OK. I'd fly on that long before I'd fly on the Airbus!

I just got stuck in BTV over the weekend when CO had not one, but TWO of their brand new Embrair fleet down with mechanical problems. These planes are only a year old. Give me the old Dash workhorse any day!!

Anne, I used to be a diehard Boeing fan (always tried to get a flight on the B757), but after flying on B the A321 & B757 last week, the A321 is a much more comfortable aircraft. Have also flown on the "baby bus" (the A319) and it wasn't a bad flight, either. Haven't done first class in the A321, though. I really like f/c on the B757!

Comfort means nothing if it's not safe. Read the DOT web site and take out incidents involving ATC error, pilot error, acts of God, focus only on equipment problems and you'll be afraid. Very afraid.

Going to the DOT website right now. Don't have any flights booked on Airbuses right now, so I guess I'm "safe" to go read it. :)

You need to read all the crash stats and look at each to see the equipment. It takes more than a glance, but you'll notice a distinct pattern.

I simply won't get on one of them.

Anne - have you seen the crash statistics for cars? How do you get to the airport? I'm not trying to be a pain or a smartass, but come on! If you're won't fly on a specific aircraft due to it's safety record, then you probably should not sit in a car either. You are statistically MUCH more likely to die on the way to the airport than you are in a US commercial aircraft!
